well he can get the amd build and it should be able to play games fine, since that is his main goal I think.....

best for his wallet to be able to play games nicely, the amd, but if he wants to be able to see all eye candy up he needs a bigger wallet.

That's a misleading statement. He could pick up a 3770k pretty cheap by then, and I wouldn't bet on steamroller beating Ivy.

Strongly strongly doubt that. Remember this is Intel we are talking about that socket is already EOL.

The 970 Motherboard for the AMD Setup is Very Robust in Feature set compared to the H61 for the Intel, Plus Steamroller AM3+ is set for 2014, where as Socket 1155 is dead now, meaning you would already be upgrading both the motherboard and CPU to get something better (which in long run costs more than upgrading piece by piece).

This choice between both machines definitely stick with the AMD, the 965 BE maybe long in the tooth but it is no slouch (First Hand Experience with one, boot up, multimedia and gaming are pretty good on them). Intel parts always go for a premium, which isnt worth the price.

u canot just say fx sucks!! that is not opinion!!thats just bulshit!!put some numbers in ur statement!! review or something else!! not just that my opinion!! do u own both i5 and fx 8350??so u saying that from ur own expirience?!?!
for ur info take a look at this video!!pls..http://youtu.be/eu8Sekdb-IE

AMD build but swap the 965BE for an 8320 and you would be pretty set for a while. As for long lasting platform the 2500K on LGA1155 is a dead socket...AM3+ is slated to get steamroller leaving a nice little upgrade in there.

justification as to why you think that would be nice for the OP. :nutkick:

I wouldn't count on that. Usually once a socket is put out to pasture the high end processors for it don't tend to drop that much in price. Just look at the high end 775 processors, 9650s still go for over $200. Socket 1156 processors aren't any better, 870s still go in the $200 range.

That is fine but we are say that just stating you opinion without any explanation make you opinion not matter.

I'd go with the AMD system only because tge.motherboard is shit in the Intel system and the AMD system is cheaper. Overclock the 965 now and it can cime pretty close to matching the stock 2500k(which can't be overclocked due to the motherboard) and put the $50 saved into upgrading to a 8320 and better graphics card that much quicker.

Thanks for the video. I was basing my opinion on every benchmark I've seen and the fx always losing to the intel. As you can see in my info I'm not an AMD hater.

Do you have a limit on your budget?

I think you could pull the trigger on the 7870 XT with 8350/8320, and the 990FXA-UD3 motherboard...

A build with that probably won't go over the $800 mark. You'll have a upgrade path and a better value than a Intel build. And if you overclock the hell out of this 83x0's, you'll get a lot of performance.

If the intel build didn't have the H61 motherboard Id choose that one.

However since the AMD build has the AM3+ socket it is compatible with PileDriver FX8350/20 chips, and future steamroller. So that's what I would pull the trigger on at this point.

You can clock those Phenom chips pretty well, and in gaming they do pretty well.

It's obviously my opinion. Some uptight people here.

You're opinion doesn't make it a better option. The OP poster asked which is better which has only a little to do with opinion and a lot to do with numbers, and quite frankly you're abrasive attitude and your lack of respect is why people are jumping on your case; you're acting like a tool.

So all in all, read the thread and look at what the person is asking and it's not for an "opinion" and in all honesty that's more of a claim, and a false if that. AMD produces a fine chip for a half decent price.

I am ordering from Newegg.com to Puerto Rico so my shipping will be about $50, I plan on buying the case here if not my shipping would go up to $90. Also I just saw the prices on newegg an it looks like the 2500k and the 3570k have the same price which I found weird, I am definitely going with Intel since it will be more future proof. Would a z75 mobo be good?

I was planning on getting this one:
ASRock Z75 Pro3 ATX Intel Motherboard - Newegg.com

I am trying to get up to $650 + the shipping costs that are $50 bux. (Keep in mind that i have to get a case for about $50 here in Puerto Rico so the total would be around 750 Shipping included from newegg).

If you guys could build me a good gaming build for around 650 without shipping I would be thankful, only from newegg please since it is one of the only ones that ship to PR.

Do you have a limit on your budget?

I think you could pull the trigger on the 7870 XT with 8350/8320, and the 990FXA-UD3 motherboard...

Yeah, max is $650 + $50 that i have to pay for shipping.

So, should I go for the AMD Build?

Hi

what have you got in mind for a Case? any part of the budget for this?

how much is the shipping?

i5-2500k ~ AMD FX-8350 comparison

atb (all the best)

Law-II
I will buy a case here in Puerto Rico since that will make my shipping go up to $90, right now without a case my shipping is at $50 bux. My budget for this build is $650 + $100 for shipping and a case here.

If we are just basing off the two system you have presented us with then build two woul dbe better for gaming for the most part since it has a fast GPU in it.

That been said the 965 is starting to show its age and the 2500K will beat it out in CPU intensive games, but this would only be in a few games.

If you can get a 8350 with that system your looking sweet and for cheaper. i own a 8350 and my brother has a 2550K (None GPU version) and im sure the 8350 beats it most of the time.

There's a 3rd system now, please check it out and tell me your opinion. Also wich motherboard would you recommend with the 8350 for about $80?

Sorry didn't see the third system and personally i wouldn't bother with it an i3 is ok but no where near as good as a 8350 or 2500K.

Mobo wise id go with anything that will support the new FX CPUs, something like this > http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_803&products_id=17839

Thats AUS dollars so it would work out to be around $80 US anyway. Thats what id use

The 3rd system is a better base for an Intel rig, but the CPU is meh. It will work, and at stock both the i3 and 965 are about equal in games. But you are still limitting your overclocking, the i3 can't really be overclocked. So the 965 still wins out once you consider overclocking.

However, with the 3rd rig you at least have a motherboard that can be used for overclocking, so you can get a K series processor later and overclock that later down the road. Of course the cost of this upgrade will still be a lot higher than upgrading to an FX-8320 down the road.

So I think I'd still go with the AMD rig just because it will be cheaper to upgrade down the road.

ok can u pls tell us what parts u need??650$ is tight budget.. but we can make it wistle!! i made 650 without psu and case :)

This would help greatly. Because it doesn't really make sense to buy a 965 new when an FX-6300 is only $25 more.

Once again your limiting to the 7850 ^ (still a good card) but the other selections you get a 7870 and that's more important then the CPU side of things and for future proof.

This is pretty confusing, because some pleople say intel and other say amd, I was trying to go with the build i posted above because as you can see it has a z75 board which should let me overclock when I get an i5 3570k.

However do you know anything about the gtx 650 ti 2gb version, is it any good?

This is pretty confusing, because some pleople say intel and other say amd, I was trying to go with the build i posted above because as you can see it has a z75 board which should let me overclock when I get an i5 3570k.

However do you know anything about the gtx 650 ti 2gb version, is it any good?

Either way if your on a budget AMD is always the way to go, if your not on a budget then go Intel, simple.

I own a GTX 650 Ti, the 1GB version its factory OC and its a great card but not in the same league as the 7870 or 7850 for that matter. All depends on your res?

How about the 2gb version, would it change anything?

What games do you play, what settings and fps?

Because there is the Gigabyte 650 ti 2gb version on newegg for $175 I could also get an i5 3570k with all the other same specs for about $720 with shipping included. ( I could upgrade my GPU in maybe 6 months).

The 2Gb version will help in high res gaming, thats about it.

I play all sorts  but im getting old and not gaming as much as i used to (work work work) But I know the GTX 650 Ti works realy well in Borderlands 2, plays it maxed out at 1680*1050, CPU is a Phenom 955. It will play any game out there, maybe not maxed out but not far off.

the 3570K is a good all round CPU, my bro has the 2550K and in my eyes there the same lol My 8350 gives them both a run for there money and in games that love CPU like Metro 2033 or BC2 i think mine would pull ahead. (Im still doing testing, when i get the time)

Either way its going to work i guess, go intel get a lower GPU then upgrade it later? or Go AMD get a better GPU and Upgrade CPU later, all depends on cost and which way will cost you more money?

I would like to stick with intel because i dont want to have to go and buy another motherboard, i will be playing @ 1920x1080.

All depends if your going to go AMD or Intel from the get go? Either way would end up in the same result 965 to a 8350 same mobo, i3 to a i5 3570K same mobo, end result if you stick with the same GPU will be pretty much the same in performance wise.

At that Rez i think the 650 Ti will struggle a little bit, the 7850 would be a overall better choice or the 7870 or a GTX 660 Ti.
