atitool will give you your max oc settings and overdrive not but if you have your highest stable clocks you should change your bios for a decend oc

I have a X850XT, and with the help of the great guys on this forum, i have just flashed it to a X850XTPE!

First of all, you use ATITool, to raise the clock speeds vid 5Mhx increments, but give it 10mins on the artifact test before going up to the next 5Mhz increase. Once you reach the 540/590 clock speeds of the test the cared for 2nhrs using the artifact test. Also check the temps throughout, and dont worry if they go up to 75 on the core, and 55 on the mem.

Then if it comes of without any errors look at flashing it!

Check my thread for the details:

Completely agree with this m8. People say overclocking to XT PE speeds are the same thing. WRONG! Timings are different. Read speeds are faster. And you will be able to actually see the difference playing you favorite game when it comes to frame rates. And the best part about it, it is easy to do.

With this said, I must also say that this viods warranties. And if the flash doesn't work out, then you will end up with a whacked card unless you know how to fix it. Imo, if you are scared or unsure of yourself, don't do it. But, once you do one and it works out, you will be thinking how easy that was. And if ever you need to flash the original bios back to it, no problem.

Very true quazi! :)

BTW, OC'in and flashing my X850XT was only the 2nd time i have ever flashed anything! :p

And everyone should remeber before overwriting to the new bios, make a backup of the previous one! :D

i did a hardmod on my x800pro to xt (few months ago when that topic was hot )
hardmodded and flashed it to 16 pipes
it ran fine for 2 months and then i blew the board
away warranty but i got a x850xt now which i'm going to flash to pe
my current stable settigs are
668 core and 615 mem i installed ati silencer 5 rev 2. and temps got not higher than 65 degrees celcius

but anyway flashing / hardmodding is not for the weak harted (and it makes it easier if you got cash to buy a new one / or a friend @ the local computer hardware stor that gives you RMA :) ) if you don't trust yourself or the method than don't do it

Okay, so kitt3, I think everyone is trying to say that you should Flash the BIOS to XT PE speeds if you want to let Overdrive tell your card what to do at higher clockrates. Also, you can use ATItool minimized and it will overclock your card when you play games, which is what I would do if I were wanting more performance for short times. So for safety, you can use Overdrive to clock the card automatically, but for more performance and a small risk of artifacts or instability, use ATITool. Neither of these will hurt your hardware though, except in some circumstances like holding an unsafe overclock and keeping your PC on (I mean the whole screen is artifacted or frozen or something like that). Good luck though dude
