Dead pixel? Ummm, a wide bar going from top to bottom would involve 1000s of pixels. And a dead pixel would be black. And it would be one tiny black dot, like this. If white (or any color other than black, it would be a "stuck" pixel.
In any case, this problem, if not a hoax, is not bad pixels.
@Santithegamer - I agree with sneekypeet and specs would be great. And before buying a new monitor, try that monitor on another computer and/or another monitor on this computer - just to make sure it is not the graphics solution.

My bad... Stuck pixel is what I had in mind when I mentioned dead pixel. Wasn't there a software that could fix pixels that are stuck to one color, though? I dunno about the credibility nor the effectiveness of that software.

Depends on how it became stuck, but yes, there is software. And in some cases, some gentle rubbing with your thumb over the pixel has been reported to work, though I have never personally seen that work. Either way, stuck or dead pixels are not the problem here. We just need to wait for the OP to return, assuming he will, and provide some more information - hopefully before SP shuts it down.

I've seen a crack in the LCD panel induce similar behavior before. Was the display impacted recently? If you push on it lightly, the crack may become visible (carefully, as this may make the problem worse, not that you can fix it anyways if that's it...)
Source; I have face punched many monitors in my day. Do not judge. I work hard, sometimes fall asleep in my chair and get night terrors. My monitor paid the price at least 2 times for this behavior.

The wider the line, the more likely the panel has failed, or of course, a bad panel driver. (not the "T-con") Unless it's a T-con problem, then you probably can completely forget about it!
