Who else HATES Gymkhana in Dirt3

Because I think it is the most annoying, terrible waste of time, energy, and pixels EVER...

Seriously, I hated straight Drifting, but this Gymkhana thing is WORST!

Anyone else feel this way, or am I alone in this...?

the frustration is strong with this one... trust me

I love Dirt 3, its just, I really do not get gymkhana... for example, RallyX World Tour ends with a Gymkhana event... why? and on top of that, give me 55 seconds to do everything to get a bronze... and it takes me like 20 attempts to get it right (and get bronze).

upsetting really...

Gymkhana isn't easy, truth be said, but it isn't impossible.
DiRT3 is a very well made game, but it seems more aimed at players with steering wheels rather then keyboards.

I have no problem with it. It's not my favorite, but whatever. If you "hate" it, play rally or something. You never really say what you "hate" about it. It's a simple premise of driving a car around a track and doing tricks for points. It may not appeal to everyone but I see no reason for the hating.

True that. I get how I must just suck at gymkhana, and my frustration is amplified since after i win every race in a series i am forced to struggle with some lame "donut donut spin spin drift AIR" stuff.

I just don't enjoy that one little aspect of the game

I don't like it, because I find it hard when I play on my own difficulty (everything off, only ABS on).

You need more practice.
PROTIP: Try adjusting the deadzones and saturation of the controls so that the car doesn't react so roughly.

I played with everything off, including ABS, and it didn't seem that hard. Handbrake FTW! Again, the only thing I miss having to improve the diving is a steering wheel, but I can manage fine using a keyboard.
I'm kicking butt at rallying at level 5 difficulty. On level 6 I only manage to reach 2nd...

I quite like it even though I suck at it, it's frikken hard to get good medals, but the sport itself appeals to me on a very basic level.

@ erocker, perhaps hate is too strong a word lol, I was in the middle of raging I guess, but I think i covered why i don't enjoy it.

I will practice and work at it though, perhaps I can learn to like it.

I like Ken Block's Gymkhana videos, absolutely no desire to do it in a game though. I play it with all assists off and while I'm not great at it, I'm not terrible at it.

I do like to just drive around doing crap in some games, like in Forza 3 which came with a test track download I just joyride around in, it was actually inspired by Gymkhana, but no desire to actually do Gymkhana.

I preferred the way rally games were going when legends like Colin McRae and Richard Burns were still around. Now they are filled with all sorts of nonsense. Pretty much ever since it turned into "Dirt" series, it just went straight down...

When I run Gymkhana I just set all of the car setting left except for downforce. This makes the car vary "slippery" and easy to get loose in the turns for drifting or larger donuts. To master it, you do need to learn the nuances of the hand brake

I think it's a nice introduction for some variety, Gymkhana.. still struggle a bit with the donuts round circles, though... maybe that's where I need to use the handbrake properly?!

For me the best change in D3 was less buggy races, hurray

the hand brake is definitely needed for the donuts and spins. When spinning in the box, i hold it down for a second or so as i turn to get the back end out. donuts im still working on getting right but it does seem to need more than a quick press sometimes.

Gymkama is weird some of the trick stuff is over the top and reminds me of NFS U 1/2 where cars drive totally different depending on the race type.
I don't particularly care for it but its not the worst thing ever.

What i do hate is you cant adjust the steering speed or linearity for the stick on the game pad which leads to me constantly tapping it left or right as opposed to steering.
