Who else OCs their netbook?

For indoor use, I OC my CPU from 1.6Ghz to 1.85~1.9Ghz, and my GPU from 166 Mhz to 400Mhz. I also keep the fan at 100% when noise doesn't bother me and sometimes up the brightness further than maximum

ASUS 1000HE (upgraded to 2GB Ram):
- SetFSB for the CPU OC (ICS9LPR427AGLF) with Atom N280
- GMABooster for the GPU OC
- eeectrl for fan control and brightness control

I can play League of legends at 10 fps (6~13). Not the best experience, but beats being able to do nothing. Helps with big 720p videos as well

Isn't the sole purpose of a netbook is to do work on it?

I can take my 1005PE to 2 GHz with setfsb. Also can overclock the gpu which has gotten me a 30% FPS boost.

Mine isn't overclocked but underclocked to 1GHz/0.998 due to battery mode. And I can still play Youtube videos (not in HD obviously), play some flash games and browse heavy pages smoothly (that's my netbook usage basically, besides to do works), while keeping it cool, fan stopped and battery duration long.

You should overclock and undervolt. So when your idle you want the minimum speed and voltage then when your on battery you want stock speed but undervolted and when on mains you want top speed.

My Phenom is at 800mhz @0.7v/1.075v idle, 2800mhz @ 1.1/1.075v and 3300MHz @ 1.2v/1.075v

My U2500 ULV core duo 1.2ghz is at 0.9v at idle and full speed it wont go any lower.

lol i didnt even notice you had started the thread.. i used to use eeectl on my 701 i think it supports the 1000he it should let you underclock and overclock.

If you modify stuff, I was looking for something simpler :/ My main concern is underVOLTing, with underclocking being something that can enhance my underVOLT

OCed, my temps reach up to 65C, but usually hover around the 60C area (increases to 65C when heat accumulates under it). Idle temps are very high, around the 50C area, going to 53~55C when heat accumulates. I realize that my idle temps are only 2C higher then stock speeds though, and load temps are something like 3~6C higher. I never knew my netbook ran so hot until today

the lack of control over my CPU PM and low performance was the reason i gave up with atom and got an ULV core duo laptop

i was just thinking does the chip set used with the n280 not use 3x the power of the CPU or something ridiculous. perhaps people should look for a volt mod for the GN40 chip set instead of the atom CPU. surely it would be as simple as a pencil mod.

to cool your laptop down get a copper shim instead of the thermal pad. i done the mod to my 701 and my d420 and it drops the temps by about 10c.

CPU = 2.5W
chipset = 12W :O nearly 5x the power !

Yea, that was the next step for me lol.

It is funny though, 2 minutes of blowing in the laptop drops the temps like 3~8 degrees LOL

i ended up going for a dell d420 12.1" 1.2ghz core duo from ebay for £100 its pretty fast apart from the 1.8" 4200rpm hard drive and has built in 3G/WIFI/BT and its made of magnesium so its very strong and lighter than a macbook air i have dropped and kicked this so many times im shocked it still works the only damage is some scratches on the lcd top cover that i have just covered with adhesive vinyl. the 1280x800 screen is also a huge improvement from the 1024x600 screen that was in my Acer aspire one.

its also fully compatible with XP/Vista/7/Ubuntu/OSX 10.6.8

Yea I bought my dad a magnesium HP elitebook with an SSD. 12.1" 1280x800 and has an SL9400 (or was it 9600?) which is a great processor IMO.

but I'm stuck with this netbook for now :/

Or using classic theme, disabling desktop wallpapers and animations, and the typical defrag (only HDD) and cleanup maintenance, and killing all background software minus batterybar (here), and uninstalling all unnecessary preinstalled software

All this made my netbook blast faster even with the underclocking mentioned. At stock can be even faster than my desktop in some areas like web page rendering and booting.
