I'm the one getting the free sample.

I got permission from IceGiant to pass it along.

They liked the idea enough to offer free t-shirts.

We all remember that IC Diamond fiasco, lol. Yeah btw this cooler has an aluminum plate so don't be putting that stuff on there. I saw what it did to my other coolers.

The ProSiphon is different than heatpipe air coolers. It's an actual industrial heat siphon. It uses gravity instead of capillary action.

Currently no nickle plate.

The irony here is that even though most of you are negative/skeptical, just having this conversation has generated interest, which was all IceGiant was hoping to get out of this. Keep it coming.

Ic diamond went on until the guy spoke about shooting dead grandmother's... I think you are fine.

If you are unsure, PM a mod. I do not think they will outright close you down if it were an issue. As an ex mod, I'd allow it in this context.

Oh, so its still in prototype form?
I would say it's evolving. I can link you to the change log as there has some teething issues.

I do see myself offering to share my toys. I don't work for the company.
So you are making and sending the t-shirts from your own pockets? If not you do work for the company, you just don’t (understand to) want any money for that.

This is basically the same ”artists get payed by visibility” category crap all over again. You use your time and money to benefit a company that elsewhere spends tens of thousands on press ”reviews” on youtube and get a uighur slave labour cotton t-shirt for your efforts. Come on.

Not being a ”removed” here, just stating that this is NEGATIVE PUBLICITY for the company. I was interested in the product, but will never give my money to companies doing shady shit like this.

I'm not making t-shirts. I don't care about t-shirts and didn't ask for one. IceGiant offered me one. Then they offered everyone one who wants to play around with this thing.

I guess some people might see a free, unsolicited t-shirt as negative?

I think if this were 5 to 10 years ago, this may have worked, but only if shipping labels for users were part of the deal.

I mean hell, I got a X299 with many cores, and would give it a shot, although by my methods, and see how it did against the world.

To pay to get it, to be an influencer, the details just don't add up for many.

A t-shirt may sway some, but I'd bet you got much more traction if they paid shipping without mention of a shirt at all.

Just my 2 pennies.
I think they have a fair idea here, or you did. Just that the implementation isn't all there yet.

No hate, just my honest take looking at it from the outside.

Also for now, talk of the company is good, was like that for ICD for the first 20 pages too, but we all saw how that went.

Oh, and if you think that it’s OK to state that a reviewer must do certain things in a review, as your first post seems to indicate, think again.

A review is just a reviewer doing whatever he/she thinks should be in a review. Trying to influence reviewers to test specific things is not cool, like, at all.

If you want good press and visibility for a new air cooler, just make sure that it is the best, send it to gamers nexus and make sure that it is in the front of their testing queue. The last part is the tricky one, but if one can’t do it it’s better to work in some other field.

So let me post the meat of what's going to be involved.

The thread on the other forum was where we decided as a group exactly what we were going to do as far as procedure and we elected our team leaders for U.S. and Canada. That was last month. The cooler is finally arriving so now I can open this here if anyone wants in.

No you don't get to keep the cooler. I imagine at some point one of us will break the poor thing, at which time they will send out replacement parts.

There's a small list of free benchmarks that we came up with last month. We couldn't use the more typical ones because they were too easy for 16 core CPUs. So for example, Cinebench 23 has to be run in looped mode for 30 minutes instead of just a normal run.

There's a spreadsheet where you list your test rig, and what settings you used if you overclocked, ect. You record your ambient and intake temps. You enter your results. You make any final remarks such as "hey I think this mounting mechanism sucks". You send it to the next guy on the list.

This is for the fun and enjoyment of playing around with hardware. As a bonus you get a t-shirt. I was mulling the idea of other "prizes" but those would be at our own expense unless I can convince the company.

I do appreciate all of your inputs. I realize you all are in the shock and awe stage, but this is already happening.

We have plenty of enthusiasts, they just are not gullible. I feel resistance will be felt everywhere if run as presented here.

No not Shock and awe................................. but incredulity of the offer

Like most enthusiast here i run various systems from single core retro pc's to 8 core systems
Testing on Multiple Systems is something you should be intrested in
But that won't happen if there is no included TIm (Decent Tim ain't Cheep)

ps who would trust using a fowared opened used Tim ...........not me or anyone i know

My i9-10900x on a x299 EVGA FTW-k clocked at 4.7 all core is interested. But no one asked for pictures of the cooler yet?

Stop with the name calling.
Stray on topic.
Stop the BS.
If you are interested let the op know or do what is wanted... IF NOT, MOVE ON.

Read the forum Guidelines before you post that post!

Posting in a thread
Be polite and Constructive, if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all.
This includes trolling, continuous use of bad language (ie. cussing), flaming, baiting, retaliatory comments, system feature abuse, and insulting others.
Do not get involved in any off-topic banter or arguments. Please report them and avoid instead.
Healthy debates will generally be allowed if the following criteria is met.
Useful sources and constructive wording.
Maintain the topic that they're taking place in.
No insults, trolling, shaming, hate or toxicity.
Avoid political or religious comment unless it is specifically relevant to a topic and in those cases is only acceptable if done in an unbiased manner.
Once it is considered over, do not drag it on only to have the last word.
Short and pointless posts like "yeah", "me too" or "haha" can be made on the rest of the internet, not here. Post count doesn't increase your e-penis.
Stay on topic, changing the topic won't help the discussion. Feel free to create a new thread instead.

It sounds interesting, but I'm not one with enough spare time and space to pull things apart to test them with my 5900x.

I do like the idea that the cooler is only 104mm high, that's a nice low height for my CM HAF XB Evo case to allow the top fan plenty of room to be used. Right now I'm waiting on my Noctua NH-U9S to come in so I can swap out the Hyper 212 (which is about half an inch too tall to allow the top fan for the case to be used).

If a testing sample can't be kept by the testers, maybe some other kind of incentive could be had....maybe the company would offer a decent discount for anyone that tested, if they wanted to buy one. Sure, it's not the same as keeping a testing sample, but something is better than nothing.

Actually what I was hoping is that if there are enough interested users here in this forum, that you would get your own team, your own cooler, and set your own rules.

My cooler is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I'll post pics. They said it might have a few scuff marks since it is the one that the owner got to play around with himself.

Ironically I only have a few 6c/12t CPUs on hand at the moment so I most likely won't be able to heat this thing up much at all.

This all started when I emailed the company with my own skepticisms. They offered to send me a loaner unit. Then it turned into something bigger, and more fun, fun for everyone.

So you are not asking for reviewers, but rather testers. I would suggest you to fix your posts to indicate that. Words matter.

Just came to mind from the previous post of overall height. Is ram height a concern for testers?

I'm using my HAF XB too. Also going to put it in a regular vertical gaming style case. I'm all kinds of worried about how this thing fits too.

Just came to mind from the previous post of overall height. Is ram height a concern for testers?
I'll be checking with all the RAM I have here.

I'm more worried about 1st slot graphics card clearance.
