why are there no more new survival horror games?

i miss games like resident evil, silent hill, alone in the dark etc these were all great titles, why doesnt anyone make survival horror games any more ?

i mean i know theres a new alone in the dark coming out but thats a fps, i want somthing akin to silent hill 2/3 resident evil nemesis etc. does anyone know of any other similar games that have been released in the last couple of years or due to be ?

nothing like wondering through dark corridors and creepy dim lit alley ways whilst listening to weird white noises and such

Doom 3 didn't do all that well, and that Half Life 2 outsold Doom 3 and many had complaints with the way Doom 3 was presented. FEAR was a good one though. There are games in that sub-genre coming up, such as Alone in the dark.

i like the 3rd person creepy feel of silent hill alone in the dark etc not looking for another fps which correct me if im wrong f.e.a.r, doom 3 and halflife to all are

Uhmm Alone In the Dark remake is coming its way this month or the month after... Still is survival horror genre in the FPS sense tho

There are alot of horror like games coming out this year, just not for the PC. It just seems it is going to get harder and harder for us PC gamers to have good games because it seems all of the game makers out there are afraid of the piraters and there for stick to the 360, PS3, and Wii. If they do make a game for PC, assume it is out for consoles too, they make a crap port like Iron Man that even a pirate wouldn't download it!!

Zombie Panic Source a Half life 2 mod where you are with a group of survivors basically the other players and you try to escape or survive on some maps.

You have to drop ammo and guns you collect to give it to other players because ammo and guns are scarce and you need to conserve ammo.

A mic is prefered because you acn comunicate with players but its not needed, although typing is hard while trying to survive.

One of the maps is a cinema, one an old house, one a subway, ones some streets with buildings.

Its a good mod.

For those specific types, probably because they wore out their welcome.

RE and similar games were not just neat by genre, rather neat by design and playability. Then, like most classic movies, they got wattered down with sequels.

The only other one I can think of that had that feel, was Siren for PS2. Weird controls, though definatley more scary than RE to me.

I hated the Resident Evil controls and camera only untill Resident Evil 4 did i actually enjoy playing a Resident Evil.

I watched my friends play Resident Evil before tho and i did do some of the first one.

i didnt mind, i mostly used a gamepad with RE which made it easier and was ok when you got used to it

I loved RE:0 for Gamecube. Wasn't a big fan of RE4, it seemed to do a poo on it's predecessors and give you too much ammo and enemies. It felt like more of a shoot em up than a survival horror, I preffered the little puzzles scattered everywhere in the previous RE titles.

Resident evil 5 is coming out 08-09 for 360 and ps3,the trailer is amazing

Also a new Silent hill has been announced for those systems

And dont forget about alan wake.... its taking for ever to come out,but looks very atmospheric,like the shining meets in the mouth of madness,this ones on pc/360
