Lets start from the beginning, Microsoft released XBox, and with that brought a slow death on PC gaming. After words Microsoft was focusing on its new console, using its contacts that made PC games for XBOX instead.

The Internet was also finally hitting its P2P age with pirated games attached to it. This gave the bigger and bigger sales to console games with a lesser amount of pirated games to loss profits on. Money is money, and people work for the money, so go figure they stop making games for PC.

PC games come with a high price tag on every block buster release. Unlike Consoles like PS2, X-BOX, XBOX360 the hardware is updated very rapidly. More challenges in the graphical design are pushed to The limits on every new game release which can cost a budal to update what is necessary. When it comes to PC gamers, they are a lot picky-er about their games looking to its graphical limits than console players are. They pay large amounts for newer, more graphical , and faster machines year by year, and sometimes even quarterly thru the year. They almost demand that all games push their new hardware to the limits on every new release. With all of this attached to PC games, its going to cost more money to make, and then to top it off, face large amounts of Piracy to loss even more money.

Last year when Microsoft slowly started to talk about its news O/s and Vista. Microsoft even started in a conference in the round of time Oct 2005. Almost every game will run on the platform of DirectX 9 for the Wii, PS3 and 360. Vista would be given something special to bring to Vista DX10. They believed they can stop piracy, and even to the point to bring Rent-able games to Vista in the future. They would also offer free advertisement for Vista games, and to push it as hard as they did with XBOX.

At E3 2005 Bill Gates announced Liveanywhere, a setup to bring cell phones, and the most important X-Box live to Vista Windows for Games. They also talked about splitting the windows group for the first time to specialize in all areas. Games were never a focused in its own area before, with vista they are going to be. They also talk about pushing developers to make games for both platforms released at the same time. PC users could play a game at the same time with X-Box owners talking about PC, and therefore putting it in the spot light.

Vista is going to be graphical heavy, and that's a good thing. Its also a good thing Vista is a memory hog. This will make company's like Dell, Hp, and all the other to sell better hardware in the end just to get it running right. People will finally want a good video card with their new PC, with a lot of memory because people will start to talk about how much it needs again. Then anyone could finally finally go to a store pick up a game and play it, because the hardware will be there, and could easily get people hooked and start playing PC again.

How good is DX10 gaming, I don't think anyone knows for sure yet. Why are the new cards requiring 200-300 watts of power to run/ A report from ATi net years time table is said to have a chip set to offer 4x4 and 4 gpu crossfire in late 4th Quarter 07. So what is that going to give you in power to a level of gaming detail graphically? Will pricey kill the idea of more detailed higher cost games, and will devourers come back to making games for the PC fluently again? I think its going to take a year to two to play out, and then we will know if Microsoft's plan works out.

I have high hopes for Vista to work, and this is my two cents about it.

I believe that die shrinking will catch up with core upgrades or will have to in the next year or be forced to, due to hardware needs. And that will result in midrange cost hardware and games for the next three years.

Yes, die shrinking will save money on production cost of headwear in all PCs. Even just having games work on almost all PCs for the next 3 years would be amazing, it could pump a lot of life back into the PC gaming market again.

read the vista licence if you really think its a good thing.

also dell and such...they will give you just enought memory to RUN WINDOWS and just enought video card to RUN WINDOWS, no more. you will still need more ram to game properly, and more video power to game at decent settings/res's.

vista's licence is insain, evil, and will drive alot of people and companys to dump ms.

as a friend of mine keeps saying "i smell FAIL in the air"

I have and all that in the end is'nt going to matter, all new pcs will have Vista, business may run CP for a few more years but in the end will run the new O/s, and this happened with 98,2000, and xp. Some people don't like to move on, some people do.

and some people will start moving to other platforms, not because they want to, but because they want their pc to work nomatter what, with vista if you dont got a good net connection/loose your net connection, no more working pc till you get one back because it MUST CALL HOME REGULARLY.

i know people who are already working on learning to use desktop bsd and the easyer versions of linux because they see where ms is headed, the next ms os will requier high speed net so it can download critical files each time you want to run an app, just to make sure nobody warez's it, or so they will claim.....

i didnt read all that as i couldnt be bothered :D but from what i did read, pc games being more expensive than console games is BS. over here i can buy a PC game for say £30, and its PS2 counterpart will be £40-45. go figure.
