Well cpu is back in case and it is Hella cooler. The ihs was not properly attached so there was air between it and the die. It was a factory defect

I presume you have tuned the voltages for lowest possible stable VCore?

Best option is delid and run direct die with liquid metal TIM.

I just got a new 9900K. Running direct die, CPU Package temp at idle is typically ambient +5°C.

5000MHz @ VCore = 1.205V in UEFI, 1.27V under load of LinX 0.9.11 35000 problem size, ambient of 26°C, barely touches 70°C. Pulls ~200W.

Given, my cooling is slightly more robust.

Hopefully this will reduce the temp issues when overclocked - allowing for a more stable setup.
I have the mATX version of that GA board and when overclocked to 5-5.2GHz, the VRM MOSFET temps reach 110C even with a 40mm fan running around 10K RPM. I had been eyeing those MOSFET blocks, so please do share your results with them.

Will have to wait if I want the copper ihs
Why? It takes a weekend to lap stock IHS. They are all copper just with coating so that copper won't oxidize.

Hi, I want to caution general enthusiasts against a common misconception, the linear performance return paradigm.
When we upgrade our hardware in high hopes of success, we generally put more stress in our internal cooling requirements. Generally this causes a mismatch which confuses us in direct contradiction to what our heightened expectations led us to predict from our systems. Therefore in such cases, we must also upgrade our case requirements. Either by moving to open bench pc setups, or running our radiators flipped to the outside of the pc, we must do our best in order not to cause the internal case ambient temperature to overheat.
Cooling is difficult as it is, let us not make it reflected between high stress components.

Are you running direct die?

Rather wordy, but I agree.

External radiators, especially large ones like my 560, are the way to go.

Delidded, but re-installed the OEM IHS, or an aftermarket such as the RockItCool copper?

If so, what TIM are you using between die and IHS, and what are you using between IHS and coldplate?

Regardless, show us some stress test runs demonstrating the temperatures with the new cooler.

Liquid metal, and cryonaut and one moment

9 minutes into a stress test from idle temp of 0c. Plan on upgrading to the cryo cooler mark 3 later also it can now run prime95 and stay at 5.0. Used to throttle down to 4.6 after 10 minutes of prime. Though cooler is not meant for long runs of 95. Before the delidding it used to reach 95-102 in the intel stress test with in 10 minutes.

Were you always only running 5ghz all core? your voltage seems to be lower at 1.3 now also wasn't it like 1.36?

Yes 5.0 all cores it is a KS that is what is advertised for turbo. Yeah I lowered it as someone recommended, still did not help much before the delidding.

Need to get my hands on one of those copper IHS or at least polish the one the 8350K comes with. I have the chip + a Z370 low end board collecting dust because the last time I tried to do something with it the temps skyrocketed to 100º even on the most basic test which is the one AIDA64 offers. P95 is just a meme test so I don't use it at all but IBT fails after 0.2 seconds due to "critical core temperature" on all cores.
Cooler is the 212 EVO, even if it was a NH-D15 the problem would still be there so it's kinda pointless to get better cooling for it.

It'd be nice to replace the ancient FX-4100 my mining rig is running with this one but it's just too unstable, even at stock clocks it'll completely freeze for no apparent reason at random times.

v7413. Normal CPU test, no AVX. 10 minute duration.

I just tried to show everything, hope it is OK.

Looks good

Thanks, was not sure.

One thing I noticed; your run was using 11157 MB of RAM, but mine was only using 2786 MB. Why do you suppose the difference?

Anyway, with sub-ambient temperatures on the cooler cold plate, do you have to be concerned with condensation?

Only if it is unregulated mode other wise it will keep the cold plate a couple of C above the dew point.

Edit, the ram is probably cause comp is also a plex server, and I did not shut down steam and a few other programs. Was being lazy their as still getting over a sinus infection.
