Full batman game, which I don't have.
May be some real advantage then.

while I would like to go with a 290/290X they are absurdly expensive.
Maybe because most people are buying these cards for non-gaming purposes (as I've heard on the web).

Not sure. Good luck!

All that and only 2GB VRAM. It may play games wonderfully at 1080p in the year 2013/14, but it's time to build for the future I think.

I play at 1080 on my 46" TV as 4K isn't really here yet, and I am hoping to do a almost complete system upgrade in less than a year, all I need now is something to keep me entertained until then, and this system will be sold or parted out.

TBH it is a sexy ass card. I've entirely avoided AMD's new lineup and NVidia's price gouging on the high end stuff. I hope for both your's and my sake that in a years time when we plan for upgrades, we won't still be getting screwed over...
I have no intentions of going 4K until I can buy a monitor for £300 or less.

I'm super happy with my 770. Sure, I was a lot more stoked prior to the release of the 290s, especially since I spent $400 on mine, but it plays games wonderfully. I have a 4GB Zotac with a full cover 680 block on it. Funny, though, this card is hotter under water than both my 5870s combined, gets to 42 degrees.

I'm about 8 or 9 hours from there in the land of mountains and trees. Nice to have you around, though.

I'm glad to be here, minus all the idiot drivers in Billings, I believe they don't know if they should be slow and nice like small town, or aggressive and fast like a big city, and end up a in limbo that causes the odd mix of shithead drivers.

You can't escape idiot "drivers" no matter where you go, so it's all good. Get it, drivers... as in AMD/Nvidia drivers....!? lol, i'm so lame

But, I wouldn't want to deal with 2GB of vram, not at 2560.1440. I've gone over 2GB vram plenty of times, though I've never gone over 3GB just yet. Sure, some games it won't be anything to worry about; been playing Dead Space series the last few days and vram usage is super low (at least in 1st and 2nd, haven't gotten into the 3rd yet).

It's too bad that the AMD card prices shot up due to the whole mining thing, because that's what AMD really had going for them, good performance at a good price. I'm happy I grabbed my 290 when it was $400 since those prices jumped way up.

I have to wait for a week or so, perhaps a AMD card will be down in price by then, but I doubt it.

Performance on memory intensive applications or resolutions shows the extra memory is not worth it.

Not with the 256 bus, I got the 4GB because I plan on adding another card, but I'm still wondering if the narrow bus will have the cards peter out before the extra vram is needed. That being said, BF4 uses 2GB and change on 1080p, I forget exactly how much, I'll check again.

And, yeah, Billings drivers suck ass, and are right up there with folks from Great Falls. I steer clear of license plates with 2 or 3 as the first number.

Seriously, the closest AMD comes in the same performance bracket is almost $200 more with no games.
I know I will have to get brackets for my cooler and some sinks for the VRM's, but for the price difference........

Wait, the 280x is NEARLY $400USD? W T flying F? That is more than it is here, and we have a 25% sales tax on it. The Gigabyte Windforce 280x cost the same as the MSI 760 Gaming.

litecoin and other heavy lifting compute tasks AMD is winning, so cards get sold for stupid amounts, $389 is the cheapest with BF4, but overclocking and all considered the 770 still has more gaming power than it does, uses less power, and costs less. I would have loved to had a 280, or been in heaven for a 290 not even the X, but not at those prices, and unless you want to buy one and ship it as a gift.......

I wish my 5870 hadn't crapped out on me, but almost 5 years of hard use and pushing it even harder.....the area around all of the VRM's is discolored. It lived longer than I expected it too.

I have a couple reference 5870s with blocks lying around if you just want to fill the gap for a bit until something you really want comes along.

I've been screaming this subject for about a week or so now. WTF? damn bitClowns Buying 40x 7970's, and Boning the rest of us while doing it. I was shopping GPU's , just B4 black friday, saw a 670 MSI for $250 FLAT , no rebate. Saw a 7950 for $260........skip ahead 2 weeks, Suddenly a 7950 is $480!!!. OR MORE! I personally cannot justify a GPU purchase @ full bloated retail. So I wait until they go down, like they WERE, then I buy. I even was SO desperate that I wondered on over to TigerDirect to see their "deals".....I found a Stock pile of 6970's and 6950's for $250-$360 respectively.....or should I say DIS-respectively?

The whole situation is a GIANT pile of dog-dicks.

I say go for it. Compared to what AMD is offering, $344 is a great price for the GTX 770. I have a 780ti with the ACX cooler, and it is SIMPLY AWESOME!!! My 780ti has yet to see above 74'c, regardless of OC or what benchmark I run, including Furmark. It's also quieter at 100% fan speed than the reference 7970 it replaced was at 50% fan speed. EVGA has a excellent cooler with the ACX.

Totally agree, 2 months ago a new 280x Vapor-X cost $458 (NZD), now they're selling for $573..... it's disgusting.
