Why the browser canvas fingerprinting?

Browser canvas fingerprinting doesn't even really serve as a unique identifier. Any particular reason this bothers you? I mean cookies are worse, honestly.

You have a "canvasblocker" addon in your browser. Just uninstall it if it bothers you.

It's a somewhat questionable security measure.
Basically, if you render the same vector image on canvas and analyse it afterwards, then you can make an educated guess about user's browser, OS and graphics hardware (but nothing more, so your private data is safe). This is possible due to the difference in final rendering due to architectural differences, different drivers, different graphics libraries.
The canvasblocker only adds random noise to your canvas, or mimics some preset configuration in order to not let anyone know what are you possibly using.
It's like the old spoofing of HTTP User-agent header from back in a day, which some of us used in order to hide true browser id from server.
