Why the hell is the news section dominated by different manufacturers GTX760s?

He is not allowed to edit press releases that way. That is why other tech sites are exactly the same speaking in terms of press releases.

that would be nice, but alas, btarunr is but a slave to the mighty manufacturers. And slaves dont have freedom in speaking their mind do they?

lol j/k pun intended. same thing happened during the 780 release. not his fault all the manufacturers decide to release on the same day :)

Then in that case, stagger the bloody articles and mix them with stuff like I linked to, makes for one hell of a boring news section otherwise unless people like reading how many different ways PR agents can say the same thing.

While I do personally find the countless numbers of press releases annoying (I've learned to ignore them) I don't find either of the articles you posted "significant". Plus one of them was already covered here months ago. The other article may best be served on NextPowerUp.

Unfortunately the TPU news section has become a place for manufacturers to advertise their new products.

If we post one, shouldn't we be fair and post them all? Don't some people want to feel informed about new releases? So they know what's on the market?

TPU is a news aggregation site. The whole purpose is to bring you the latest news as it happens. When there is a major release you will see a lot of the same type of news as that is what is currently happening in the news.

It's similar to W1zz getting a bunch if different cards of the same generation to review.

TPU does not cater its news to any manufacturers. If Bta didn't cover all the news here you guys would bitch about that too.

since you asked...why not one post per day containing all of the press releases. sort of like a press release roundup. the author of the article could even highlight items he/she felt were the most important to the tpu community. :toast:

Then there'd be hardly any news at all. It's 90% press releases. Besides it means every time a company you hate releases something you have a place to vent that anger publicly in a slightly off topic manor.

hrm, good point about the ranting.

maybe tpu should rename the news section to press releases just so people don't get the two confused?

I agree when it's vanilla cards, but when the cards with better colors and stuff I want to see every one, even if it's on the same day. But like I said if they are stock cards with the same cooler and it's just a bunch of pr talk then I agree put them all into one post. All though I would think a tech site would post news for each manufacturer to keep them happy. So manufacturers keep sending W1zzard test cards to review or W1zzard could start buying all the cards and charging everyone for a membership.. To me I'd say give them there pr so we can keep getting great reviews from W1zzard. :toast:

rofl

I think a PR from every company releasing the latest graphics card is a bit excessive too. Perhaps filter them a little by favouring the ones with more interesting custom designs/overclocks?

Regardless, there's no absolute right or wrong on this and it's certainly not "wrong" to put up all the PRs.

certainty not. but on most days the PR spam pushes all the useful news way down.

I TOTALLY agree, IMO, 80% of the Main page is a Damn ad. I understand the Manufacturers WANTING them to EACH be listed separately, OF course they Do, It's another way to Get their Products presence out to the public. But that is the price reviewers, and tech sites must apparently pay to get to test the Products which Those companies release. Seems fair, But it IS VERY annoying.

i use tpu for the forums. i never check the news section unless one of the threads from a story is "hot" and appears in the forum listing.

i guess if we want real tech news we should hit up nextpowerup.

i'm quite sure they'd send me the same load of cards even if we didn't post their press releases.

but this will change in the future. i'm not gonna do that many launch reviews anymore, too much this time, killed me

i will discuss the pr "spam" with the news team, but since all of you know how to scroll a web page i'm not sure if any great ideas will come out of it

You can probably collect all of them together, testing against the vanilla one.
