Wii 2 Leaked Specs

Nothing special about the internals according to one site, however, this is interesting:

- The Wii2 system will feature a Blu-Ray drive with a secondary aim of stopping piracy.
- 1080P and lower resolutions will be supported, for blu-ray movies and games.
- The release date is scheduled for third quarter of 2010.
- The release will be worldwide and on the same day for all countries.
- A scheme will be available in which it is possible to trade in the original Wii for a cheaper price on the new Wii 2.

And Nintendo is said to be releasing special information one month before the official release. Wonder what it could be?

Can't find the inspiration to care. I had my Wii for about a month before deciding that I'd never touch one again. If you ask me, I'm about ready for the PC2 It's gonna kick ass

Homebrew is a volation of Wii's terms of service which states the Wii can't be modified. Why do you think they keep releasing updates that plug the holes which were previously used to sneak Homebrew in? Nintendo obviously won't prosecute you for using Homebrew channel but at some point, they could disable certain features to all those that use it.

I have no reason to believe what is listed is accurate. Bluray requires a potent GPU and that's one of the areas Nintendo has always passed on. Nintendo is also not very likely to purchase a license for Bluray seeing as they didn't even do it for DVD support on the Wii.


Trade-in program? Unlikely. Consoles are almost always sold at a loss and the price point they do sell at is to recoup some of those expenses. The only way I could see a trade-in program being viable is if it a "green" effort by Nintendo to not generate electronic waste from old Nintendos. Perhaps "cap and trade" legislation in certain countries makes it cheaper for them to process old consoles than sell new.

Thats not specs that just a list of sort of wants or what it could haves. HD and Blu Ray are stuff anyone could have made up.

The wii cannot be modified for modification of code is highly illegal. Cant stop people doing that tho rofl.

I guess for now the system is rumored to be a new built system. Although everywhere has mixed feelings on it.

IF this is true than it would have to be a whole new system. The ATI "Hollywood" chip is not capable of HD resolutions. I also highly doubt this is real and more wishful thinking. Also the "Broadway" chip would become a bottleneck to anything more powerful than the "Hollywood". The bottom line is this would HAVE to be a new build.

I think it is capable of HD resolution's for movies, not gaming though. What I think they are adding to this is HD movie capability but I could be wrong, i'm not even sure this statement is understandable.

I had a 360 for a couple of years and there weren't too many good games for it. I would take a wii over a 360 or a PS3. The 360 and PS3 just have a bunch of watered down crap that I could be playing a better version of on my PC.
