Hi guys. Long time no see, haven't posted in a long while. Been real busy with work and I finally have some time off.
Thought I would game out a bit but I've run into a bit of a dilemma. One of my ASUS 670s crapped out late last year and I sent it in for an RMA and got it replaced without any problems. There was a small issue with the card I got though, the I/O back plate was missing so I couldn't really secure it into my case with a screw. I let it go though because it wasn't a huge issue for me personally. Didn't really game out with the card until recently and thats where my problem starts.
My RMA'd card keeps crashing with a TDR error every time I play a game, sometimes it happens right away, other times it takes as long as two or three hours to show the TDR. I've made sure it wasn't my PC that was the issue by trying the video card on my other PC. I underclocked it to see if that would fix the problem but same result, totally random on when it decides to crash.
I was thinking about sending another RMA in for the card but due to the random nature of the crashing, I'm afraid that they'll test it out and say nothing is wrong with the card and ship it back to me. I'm also afraid that they'll reject the RMA because of the missing I/O plate, saying it's my fault the card isn't working because I've been tinkering with it or something, and I don't really have any proof that they sent it back to me without it either. My faith in ASUS' RMA service has been damaged somewhat due to them forgetting to put a I/O back plate on my video card, so I wouldn't put it past them to do something like that. I'm kind of hesitant to throw down another 35 bucks to ship it to them, only for them to return it to me.
I've read the warranty terms and it reads:
The warranty will not apply to or be valid under conditions including but not limited to the following:
a) The serial number of the ASUS product, components or accessories has been altered, cancelled, removed, or otherwise not valid as identified by ASUS;
b) The product has been tampered with, repaired and/or modified by non-authorized personnel;
Any advice? Should I just go through with the RMA and hope they get me a working(with a I/O plate ) card or just call it a loss and never buy from ASUS again? Haha, I just don't want to waste my time and money if its not going to work out in the end.
Thanks guys.
