I have no issues with people posting factual information showing me to be incorrect. I have no problem with people being blunt about it. I am not part of the hand holding everyone gets a participation trophy world.

Neither am I a everyone gets a trophy guy. I am always blunt. There is a difference between being blunt and trying to shut someone down just because YOUR almighty opinion is "better."

Please go read page 1 again. He really did swat the young guy down hard, completely dismissing his opinion as irrelevant. He might as well have told him to go sit in a corner. Really, that's not how we treat people.
Thanks @rtwjunkie but they do make a valid point i did come across as an idiot that gets hurt over the "small things." because some people like to think that the internet isnt important, but Maybe to someone like me TechPowerUp is as close as they get to what they love.

Your original post basically said his AMD rig couldn't play games. This is simply untrue. If it makes me a jerk to say that then so be it. I never once said the 970 wouldn't play TW3@1080 I said the 980ti would do it better. I would hazard a guess no one would argue that.
I apologize if it seems like i didnt give the FX 6300 any credit.

Mine wasn't an opinion...I posted benchmarks showing that the status quo was incorrect.

I thought it was a factual response to his opinion. I don't see anything wrong with it. Not to mention, it was already posted that his information wasn't correct and then he posted to affirm a position that was already bunked.

Hackles down people. Its the internet. :)

And we know those are always correct. :rolleyes:

I can't tell you the number of times I have had different results from W1zzard, much less the 50 other internet sites that all get different results. Benchmarks in reviews are not gospel.

They hold more water than opinion at least in my book. Different installs will get different results you are correct, however it doesn't change how GPU bound games react. TW3 is still a GPU bound game (next gen GPU's could change this), but until then more GPU beats more CPU.

Please check my system specs tab and let me know if i can plugin the GXT 980Ti? If not please provide me the updates that I have to do necessarily?

I am asking this as I couldn't play Witcher3 smoothly with this PC configuration. I checked my CPU and RAM usage while playing it, both were good appearing below its powered threshold. So I feel my Graphic card needs to be replaced due to its VRAM. I feel that if I buy a high end graphic card, I can use it for the next three years.

Are you gaming at 1080p? Also what settings would you like to play Witcher 3 at? Is it important to you that you have at least 60 FPS?

Finally someone noticed what I said in several posts: We need more information from the OP instead of beating people down because they dare to have an opinion.

Reviews that are constantly differ cannot be used for "FACT." They can only be a guide and an approximation. Everyone will then form an OPINION based on the multitude of testing that all differs, even you @cdawall. :)

Just take the Ti. For witcher 3 it will spark things up.

If you want a gpu for 3 years, there are no other options actually.

Eventually your board might kick the bucket too sometime... And then do a cpu upgrade. You will get even more. :D

I have quite a lot of comments to read now.
Ya, I am gaming currently at 1080P and i want to play Witcher 3 at high settings. I wanted it to be smooth but not necessarily 60FPS.

970 would accomplish that today. A 980Ti would accomplish that even with games of tomorrow.

My current setup is a perfect example for your statement, i play TW3 and GTAV on Ultra 1920x1200 and even fallout4 on 2560x1600 all mentioned games v-sync'ed at 60fps but if i try ACU(that cr4p) i'll get low 30's because ACU is a more CPU intensive game.

OP can also use nvidia's DSR if he goes with the 980ti and play stuff at 1440p or even 1600p.

Then I would say a 970 should be fine and a 980 Ti is a bit more than you need right now but that's only speaking for today. The thing that makes advising anyone right now difficult is that we are on the last leg of the 28nm process and it's still unknown for certain whether AMD or Nvidia is going to come out ahead under DX12 or how quickly DX12 will become popular with developers. The reason I bring this up is because in your opening post you mentioned that you would like it to last 3 years. Pascal should be coming mid 2016 and from what I'm seeing it's going to be considerably faster than Maxwell. I understand that you need something right now though. Have you considered buying a used 970 and sell it next year and buy a mid range Pascal. I expect a mid range Pascal will perform somewhere close to a 980 Ti if not better.

Upgrade the processor to an updated i5 and get a 970. I went from the 6300 to my i7 and everything ran so much better even on the same GTX660 used between both builds. Pretty sure a modern i5 would do the same.

for GPU i guess you need a good end CPU as well to balance the machine. i7 will be recommended, however i5 will also do the job well.

have seen no reference to monitor. That is more important than cpu when stating a 970 or a 980 ti. A 1080P monitor plus 970 = everything playable at max. a 1600P monitor + 970 = some games at medium or low.

An AMD FX,Intel I7 5960x, or Intel Xeon E7-8890 V3 will not change those facts.

The cpu cannot make up for any gpu shortcomings nor will a high power gpu suddenly make a cpu faster. The difference is there isn't a quad core from AMD or Intel in the current lineup that won't hit bare minimum 30 fps on any game, massive simulator or otherwise. So the gpu + resolution determine the main detail and playability and again I see no reference to monitor or resolution.

If we're talking 1080P go 970 or R9 390 and you'll be fine.

1600p 980/TI depending on whether or not medium is going to bug you in a year or two, 980 should be at high or max on 1600P now.

But IMHO that HD needs addressing at some point. Either going ssd or at least a more modern magnetic with more storage. So again if 1080P go 390/970 and put the rest into a nice ssd.

forget platform upgrade, not need to turn this into a full rebuild on the eve of new amd stuff.

@yogurt_21 you forgot 1440. A 970 will do most games there at close to 1080p settings, maybe just turning shadows to medium.

Speaking specifically of Witcher 3, running it on my system (780ti, 1080p) I've actually taken running Bonic @100% settings while I'm gaming and the only actual slowdown between crunching and not crunching are slower load times and a slight jerkiness for about 5 seconds after a zone load. Other then that I can't tell the difference besides my fans running louder. It just doesn't come across as CPU bound at any point past a reasonable minimum.

@yogurt_21 you forgot 1440. A 970 will do most games there at close to 1080p settings, maybe just turning shadows to medium.
Also a 980 at 1440P will be just behind a 980 Ti at 1600P performance wise.
so for the NV camp at max
1080P = 970
1440P = 980
1600P = 980 Ti
4K = 980 Ti SLI

For the AMD Camp
1080P = 390(X)
1440P = Fury (X)
1600P = pls switch to NV or 390X 8GB Crossfire
4K = pls switch to NV or Fury X Crossfire

Pretty universal that way. Pick your poison.

Nice little basic breakdown you did there!
