Hi, this is my first post here. Glad to join the community!

My question is I have a new mid-range gaming system and my PSU is a Seasonic 550w 80+ Bronze unit. I would like to purchase a Nvidia (or 3rd party version) RTX 3060 ti. I notice on the TechPowerUp specs for varied 3060ti's that the min recommended PSU is 550w which again is what I have. However, when I look at different manufacturers websites for any particular 3060 ti, I see that they pretty much all state that a 600w (and sometimes even 650w) PSU is recommended.

I'm on a tight budget and am limited in my computer spending options. I've gone to the Outervision Extreme Power Supply calculator site, which seems quite thorough, and entered the specific parameters for what parts make up my system and included a moderately factory OC'd 3060 ti card, (yes, I know they're nearly impossible to find ATM but I'm patient : ). According to the results, my PSU is above the requirements by over 110 watts. I'd like to get any comments from the community if bottom line, my system is "good" with my Seasonic 550w unit. I'm not planning on overclocking my system as my CPU (Ryzen 5 5600x) already has a good boost feature. Below are my PC specs. Thanks!

- CPU - AMD Ryzen 5600x
- PSU - Seasonic S12III 550w 80+ Bronze
- Storage - WD 240GB SATA SSD
- Teamgroup 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD
- RAM - G.Skill 16GB DDR4 3600MHz = 2x 8GB sticks
- Mobo - ASUS Prime B550M-A (Wifi)
- Current GPU - An old MSI GTX 670
- Case - Bitfenix Nova TG with 2x 120mm fans
- CPU Cooler - bequiet! Pure Rock Slim

I believe your PSU will be enough for the configuration with 3060Ti.
The only problem is it might work at 75% of its capability at times (maximum) and if its temperature increases to 40°C, according to manufacturer's specification,
the unit loses more than 2/3 of its operating time (MTBF) - 100k hours to 30k.

wizzard was pulling about 360w gaming with the AMD 5600x and a video card that's uses 60w more (RTX 2080ti) than the GTX 3060ti for gaming, you should be around the 300w making your PSU sufficient

Thanks so far for all your advice! One thing though, according to the last post and chart, even with an OC'd 5600x and a more power hungry vid card (2080ti) the max wattage is ~ 380watts. So, for all intents and purposes, my 550w PSU looks like it's much more than just "sufficient". Even taking all my other PC components into consideration.

I wouldnt OC with that PSU, its pushing close to its limits already. OC can use 100w with tiniest of increases.

I'm not going to OC. The 5600x already comes with a nice boost feature built in.

Be careful with that 'boost feature' too, monitor power use with HwInfo.
