Probably not alot of MMOs dont get a upgrade or are so behind the times the next DX is out when they upgrade.

WoW actually got DX11 support rather quickly when it was launched. Cant really say the same for SW though.

Probably better off asking in the SWTOR forums than here. I think Bioware will roll out some DX12 benefits but I doubt this year. Maybe in 2016.

Its hard to tell with their development cycle. These are the guys that sat over 2 months on an endgame exploit before even recognizing it existed, then enraging the community over their own bumbling. Not to mention the morons who decided to have an endgame Ops contest without checking to see how broken their endgame content was. Lol, that was the funniest week when Bioware pulled that event. Finally at the last second they realize, "Oh, endgame is broken? So that is why we're losing subs and the community has been raging at us for months..."

Sorry, I'm being harsh but, as a former sub since launch and beta participant, I've never seen an MMO dev handle endgame in such a shitty way as I have Bioware ever since Hutt Cartel. I will of course be back so I can get Nico and Fallen. But, if they deliver more sorry crap endgame filled with welfare gear and endless badge loot, not worth sticking around. Especially when the fights get either really monotonous or rely completely on luck to beat. I knew hardcore Ops teams who would dedicate an hour to a single fight just because it would randomly instant kill players and so they'd wipe numerous times till it would function properly. You can be the most skilled people in the world but it can't make up for bad mechanics or programming.

Very doubtful. The engine the game is based on isn't exactly getting much more development. EA wouldn't go out of their way to add DX12 either.

Considering that game only has a realistic lifespan of 2 more years. I'd vote no

Likely not, might as well be The Ancient Republic as far as the devs are concerned. There's no money to be made updating old titles really.

The "average MMO user" please note the quotes as I am not trying to stereotype. They are not usually on the"bleeding edge" like the most of us here. They play on Dells and Emachines bought at Best Buy and the lot. with ancient OEM cards, so basically pretty average machines. You can't deny that all the big MMOs can be played on potatoes. They do that for a reason.
SWTOR just doesn't strike me as any kinda prime candidate. Since it's gone F2P even less likely. Oh and DX12 certainly won't make that VERY average and IMO UGLY game that SWTOR is any less so.

^Yep, that's just one of the ways they keep the "Massive" in Massively Multiplayer Online titles. Mediocre graphics that run on most machines.

I'm just wondering about the OP's assumption that "every game" will be going Direct X 12. I don't know why you'd assume that. Hardly any games, both MMO and SP will get DX12 makeovers.

DX12 is for new games that will still be quite awhile bwfore they cone out, and some side benefits through CPU utilization mostly for earlier DirectX titles.

I think we could see some DX12 titles for Christmas.
