There is when the same opinion is forced down your throat over and over again and you're condescended upon, ridiculed, called names etc until you agree. Case in point your comment about the tech savvy, so anyone who chooses amd you're implying are not, please tell me more how to live my life as I'm not capable on my own :roll :

Lot of socialist opinions here telling people this is what you should do, let's hope some of you don't get into politics

That's not socialism. Telling people what they should do isn't even political unless it's an enforced doctrine. Let's call it Fascism. The popular interpretation of Socialism is about sharing of wealth and state ownership. It's flawed by all means but has nothing to do with this topic. This has more to do with capitalism and not supporting the current sector champion, in the hope reduced sales will cause it to reflect on pricing. That won't work either.

Let's call it what it is, squabbling over Green and Red, with entrenched and irreconcilable differences of opinion.

No I think you misread or I should have put it more clearly: those tech savvy enough to make their own choices (NOT asking for advice) make them anyway. Like yourself. They have their reasons and that is fine. It still doesn't mean their 'reasons' can be applied to everyone else though. It still doesn't objectively make their/your choice 'the best' choice for another person. Yet, that is how you see many advice topics turn out and that is why its good to make the distinction. Earlier in this topic others tried to extract the very reason people would 'ever even pick VII'... if people have reasons, they have reasons, and it doesn't have to be objectively 'reasonable' as long as it works for them. But dó call it what it is.

I wonder how much a difference Navi would make in the mid-range segment. If what Radeon 7 price is any indication I fear there won’t be much disruptive pricing from Navi.

Meanwhile are you gonna get a Radeon 7? I see you have upgraded from 1060 to a 1080. Kinda surprised you still haven’t got a Vega

To be fair NVidia did the same thing with the GTX1000 series, and they didn't refresh it.

I see you have upgraded from 1060 to a 1080. Kinda surprised you still haven’t got a Vega
That's because there's no need. 1080 -> Vega64 would be a side-grade and not worth the expense. Now 1080 -> Radeon7 would be an upgrade, but at what cost?

That's not what he said at all. Don't put words in people mouths.

The word I chose was implied, and it was explained after that that's not what he meant though thanks for the clarification.

Of course not, AMD isn't stupid. They've played the undercutting game for far too long while Nvidia kept increasing prices to absurd levels, disruptive pricing isn't compatible with these market conditions.

Kinda surprised you still haven’t got a Vega

but ask fx owners here and they'll tell you they're happy with it too,so there's that. they'll tell you they're happy even if their fx bottlenecks vega 64 at friggin 4K.

Have you ever thought some people are just happy with what they have and can afford? Not the size of the epeen or what is the best or what is the most expensive? There is a large majority of people that buys whatever works for them and only sees the color brown.

Well what they're doing with rx590 at $280 msrp or RVII at $700 is neither undercutting nor trading blows really. At least with V56 and V64 they were certainly selling their stuff as long as it was available, not in equal to nvidia numbers, but I bet they were decent nonetheless. Not to mention the rx470/480/570/580 which both perform and sell very well.

The pricing system of GPU seems to be here to stay it seems. Well until Intel enters market with full force.

nah just wanna see you finally supporting your favourite company with actual purchase that’s all.

it's common to see people do this type of thinking, they'll buy from a company that has the fastest gpus atm even though in the low-end/mid-range segment they're not the best value choice.

Havent gone AMD in a long time, but if R VII is around 2080 performance in 4k, I may take one over the 2080.

Cool! They finally all sold out. Keeps me from doing something stupid. I was a hair's breadth away from pulling the trigger on a Sapphire while Newegg still had them in stock about an hour ago. Now I can stop thinking about it...

I mean... just swapping the AIO over. Not modding anything in the BIOS. lol. Just the coolers being swapped.
The Vrm section does not line up, i checked since it crossed my mind ;):)

@EarthDog I always wish for a post launch 3 month review of every card, not many driver releases are optimal day one.
AMD seams to have fudged the press driver , let's hope the consumer one is better but given a few months work it should improve too.

The GTX480 also wasn't a 300w card, it peaked around 250w.

Totally unrelated, but I loved my GTX480s in SLI, they were loud and hot, but ran everything flawlessly, and those heatpipes coming out of the shroud made me think of them as a pair of Harley Davidsons lol :rockout:

I had 470's in SLI. They were great in the winter, no so much in the summer, and then they melted my 24-pin power connector...

What I really want, regardless of nvidia/amd/intel/whateva brand, is this:

99$ card or less
2 TFLOPS
80 GP/s
80 TP/s
75W TDP or less
3GB RAM or more
passive cooling
