Will you upgrade to Intel Skylake?

Now that the reviews are out, how do you feel about Skylake?

I think i'm going to take the plunge, my 8350 @ 4.6ghz is starting to bore me....that and the fact that AMD chipsets dont support TRIM on SSDs in Raid 0.

nope. My 4790k still a beast. Its cheaper than i7 6700k which is 400 dollars. I7-4790k from Microcenter is 270 dollars.

simply put it this skylake upgrade it's not worth it , if u own a 4790K this so called "upgrade" is worthless , im not so impressed with this skylake new cpu , if u wanna it oh well then thats your money so thats fine with me , cheers !!

Also, I really wish Intel would add at least another 8 PCI-E lanes to their mainstream processors. With M.2 and SATA-Express 16 just isn't enough anymore.

With LGA1155 rig as a project, I don't see a reason to upgrade from i7-2600K. Just need to OC it to about 4.5-5GHz..

Bought a 4790k a month ago, not regretting it so far, I've been able to enjoy it during my vacation and the performance difference isn't very big, and the 6700k is more expensive anyway.
So it will be a couple of years before I buy a new CPU

I had the itch to upgrade my self a lot of time's. Especially when seeing all these new mobo's and cpu but luckily my logical side talks me out of it.

Very surprised the iGPU wasn't much of an increase. At some point, let's hope they do something big on that front, enough that playing a 3D game at decent quality won't suck!

I'm not huring for performance just need my parts to trickle down to other systems here, i.e. the lowest end video card still in operation is an HD-5670. That system needs my GTX 660 and I need a Nano

I have a 4670k almost two years old, i don't think it's an upgrade... But yeah my enthusiast side it's making me so hard to upgrade to 1151 (mobo + cpu + ram)... Damn, i hate this addictions. I gotta control myself. Well, one thing is true: It get's cheaper if i buy it now because i can still sell my componentes for a good price specially since they are on warranty too and discount a lot of the new ones but i think it's not worth with my system..

Did you miss how they implemented DMI 3.0 and how the PCH has a lot more PCI-E lanes than it used to? Z170 has 20 PCI-E lanes on it that are used for several things and aren't all available but, it's a big step up over the 8 on older PCHs.

Yes, I plan on a full new build around Christmas time! Will be a great upgrade for me.

I think you may feel it more futureproof to get one with as many as possible threads - 16 threads could be the best but since prices go up too much, probably the most convenient is i7-5820K. It's a tiny bit more expensive but has the 12 threads.

Considering my i5-2500k system bit the dust and I'm using my old reliable Q6600, this would be a huge upgrade for me.

Getting a i5-6600k would be fitting, as it follows in the footsteps of my previous chips, including my i7-920.

Just waiting for all the reviews and hardware to hit the stores.

The platform upgrade would be the only compelling reason to do so for me. I'm still running Z77 with a i5 3750K and a Samsung 850 Pro SSD. I seriously doubt an improved M.2 performance is worth the price of a new motherboard, CPU, RAM, and SSD.

I planned to buy a set i5 4690k with MSI Z97 gaming 3, but the price of 6600k is acceptable, I will wait a while and see how it will be the price of motherboards with support for them and also the memories, if not I will end buy buying even the previous generation.

6700K should be about a 100% jump in performance from my 920. I think it is time to upgrade.
