If you really wanna see DX11 take off and you are new to Windows 7..... I would say your best visual games are gonna be

1. Battlefield 3
2. Crysis 2
3. Dirt 3
4. Dirt 2
5. Battlefield 2 Bad Company
6. Metro 2033
7. Alien Vs. Predator
8. Batman Arkham City
9. CIV V
10. Fear 3

Benchmarks and Demos
1. 3Dmark11
2. ATI- Ladybug Demo
3. Nvidia Stone Giant
4. Unigine heaven benchmark 2.5
5. Nvidia Rocket Sled Demo (Which you won't be able to play because of your lack of PhysX)

Of course there are more examples then what I listed above. But IMO the list that I did give you above will give you some of the most drastic examples of improvements in visual graphics.
But you will also notice a big improvement in terms of computer performance and the way it runs. You should notice windows 7 being way more responsive then previous operating systems.

You should notice windows 7 being way more responsive then previous Windows operating systems.

Fixed that for you. :) Linux is generally more responsive in my point of view, even though the difference is pretty small (even boot/shutdown sessions are sufficiently fast now, even though Win7 still needs more than the 4 seconds that some Linux distros need).

Though I have to agree, Win 7 is (one of) the best Windows OSes ever.

you should of noticed a major diff in overall response in the OS.

Especially when the days of "too little ram and too much pagefile" are over.

XP Lagged like hell because of the pagefile technology and memory management being really crappy at the time.

Ya i adjusted it to fix the issue. Turning paging off did improve performance but you need like 16 GB of ram to not run out of space...

98SE Is Lightening on a P4 423 or Athlon CPU. 7 Really feels like 98SE in speed dept.

unigine is the only thing

dirt2, just for the watter, nothing else,

the rest of dx10/11 games are just lies (alien vs predator, hawx, f1 2010, lost planet 2)

also dx11 is just for cuting framerates in half

in dirt3 i can run dx9 all maxx with full max AA 60fps perfect, on dx11 without any aa, 55-60fps with annoying stutter

So in Crysis, I *think* I've noticed a difference with DX10 but I could just be imagining things, reflections and surface texture look softer and more realistic. I'm on a different monitor than the DX9 machine, so it could just be that.

Haven't had a chance to look at anything else other than Unigine heaven, may try to fire up Dirt2 this weekend.

Cop looked like ass on my 4850 and also sux hard as a game

Well of course it looks like ass if you try to play it at 1900 x 1200 on your 4850 and "sux as a game"? Maybe it's too big for you to understand. :slap:

Alright the truth is about DX11 is that it is not all that noticeable most of the time unless you are doing a side by side comparison. What I mean by a side by side comparison is not comparing You tube videos.
Of course there are some exceptions.....
Battlefield 3
Crysis 2
Metro 2033
So on....
But if someone was to do a side by side comparison..... they would for sure see the difference! I know I have tried and done it. You also have to factor in..... if you play a DX11 game.... from the time you buy it..... your eyes might not notice the change because it's the only way you have seen the game.

Honestly if you are looking for a change like a CGI film..... well then your not gonna get it. But if you are looking for a very nice increase in visual graphics..... then hell yes DX11 does that. Especially with Heavily tessellated areas and the new lighting tricks.
