11 22H2 ISO has a bug: CBS reports corrupted Bluetooth files.
Oh yeah that ones kinda funny, you can run the SFC stuff and it always reports that one file has an error

Hi,
Yeah sfc/... I doubt it ever really fixes what it says it finds think in 11 it's been broken because 11 is the only version that it never fond anything wrong where 10 it always found and fixed something after updating

Hell I'm just happy I finally got realtek driver working and silly console from the crappy ms store to install it finally on 11

MS store was borked just as a few reviews said it just spun endlessly

Tried lots of things to fix the store app think just right clicking it and app settings and using reset... was the process that fixed it not
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Restart
Reinstall store
Get-AppXPackage *Microsoft.WindowsStore* | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
Restart
All users
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers *WindowsStore* | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

blah..

Because it's not necessary 99% of the time.

Yep, it's in the ISO I get that dang report on every clean install! OTOH, the 21H2 11 ISO doesn't have this issue. More mea culpas from Microsoft.

I'm just so happy LibreOffice exists. I make sure to get M$Office off my PC as soon as possible on a clean install.

I'll never understand what it is coders do. Wow.

I'm starting to wonder if Open Source code is as safe as people make it out to be though, if there are hundreds of thousands of lines, I mean really who has time to go through all of that to make sure its actually safe?

Oh, i'm no coder, i also look at what they do and say "wow"

I'm a Storage Engineer (SAN) for one of the large vendors, the logs we sometimes have to review for troubleshooting purposes can be quite large.

It's a known bug, it reports one file found corrupted every time - and its an unimportant bluetooth driver that's not actually corrupt (It's looking for a different version)

They even forked actual projects like one from Titus's Windows 10 tweak and then they included malicious code within the forked project.
They are the same as closed source and can have malicious code but also safer in a way because people can see the code and that could be discovered earlier while also hurt the reputation of the coders if they are the long stayed ones.

I wouldn't just go to a very vague project and download from there.

So after 7 years on the same windows 10 installation I decided to install windows 11. Had the same installation through 5 platforms (X99, X370, X470, X570, and X670E).

My impressions thus far is that I like the new start menu, the centered task bar, the new windows snap controls, but pretty much everything else is inconsequential. The new design look isn't bad but I don't find it particularly good.

What's not cool is all the customization options they've stripped. There's no option to ungroup programs in the taskbar, there's no option to enable taskbar labels, there's no options to ungroup networking and volume (which is not a logical group) and the notification center with date / calendar which I've found is often adding extra clicks. I like the idea of having taskbar groups that pull up on a single click but there is zero option for the user to customize this to meet their needs. The lack of customization options for the start menu and it's position is extremely obvious as well, Start11 has vastly more options. No option to show all tray items instead of hiding them behind a menu either, which again is an added click anytime you want to access one of those programs.

Max thumbnail size is 256 x 256 still which means thumbnails are tiny on 4K displays.

Just the typical musical chairs consumers play with Microsoft I guess, figuring out where things are and what was removed.

Wait you can just move your storage drive over to a new mobo? I thought Windows tied license keys to motherboards... wouldn't it deactivate your license? Or does this only work for full $140 full retail Windows licenses?

Yes, it only works with retail and retail upgrade keys. You log into your Microsoft account and remove the pc with the key installed from your account, then activate the new pc with your retail key back to your account.

As for as Win 11 go's, I did an upgrade on my 2n1 Dell 7353 to see what it was like. It ran faster and I liked the interface better than I did with 10, so I bought a larger SSD and just got done a full re-install of 11 home and then used my pro upgrade key from the MS store to take it back to 11 pro. If you have a 10 retail pro upgrade key, it will work for 11 as well.

Edit: My Dell has an unsupported processer, so to install win 11, I used the appraises.dll method of installing it. So, I am quite surprised that MS let use my pro upgrade key when I did the fresh install on a new drive.

Correct. Of course you can get a grey market key for about $8 as well.

you're meant to use DPI scaling there, not boost thumbnails

DPI scaling increases the size of everything and breaks some programs visually. Doesn't really make sense to use if you only want bigger thumbnails.

I finally got around to installing win11 permanently when I upgraded my mb and CPU. So far it's about the same as I remember it (when I tested it initially on my laptop). Reminds me alot of winxp. Usually everything works fine. Then out of the blue a random program will hiccup and freeze. Giving me the lovely, close or wait for program to recover screen. Which never works of course.
I'm not too picky as far as navigation goes. So that aspect hasn't aggravated me to much. So far it's not been to difficult to get used to.

Benchmark Scores Nyooom.
DPI scaling increases the size of everything and breaks some programs visually. Doesn't really make sense to use if you only want bigger thumbnails.
these days very very few programs break

150% gives the same scaling as 1440p (just nicer looking) and i'm yet to run into any broken programs at all - in the early days of 10, EVERYTHING was broken, even notepad and paint

Then out of the blue a random program will hiccup and freeze. Giving me the lovely, close or wait for program to recover screen
This is very likely an issue with your system specifically, not a global one - you'll need to investigate more to find out why

Thumbnails at 1440p are still too small at their largest size and increasing DPI beyond that just makes other UI elements unnecessarily big. This isn't 1998 anymore, MS should just allow Thumbs to exceed 256x256.
