Windows 98 SE and DirectX question

I wanna pick up an AGP card for my Socket A Win98SE rig, i use to play older games. Anyway, does it make sense to get a DX 9.0c capable card? Does Win 98SE even support it? If not whats the last version of DX does it support?

Yes win98se supports dx9 c, just download the redist file and install it. Download it from microsoft:

Why keep win98 to play oldies? All my old games works in Vista.

Games with 16-bit installers don't. 16-bit is not supported and will not run in Vista.

yea, i'm actually still using XP and some games dont work. But i'll be moving to Vista soon so i'll need my backup rig since 16 bit wont work asDarknova sed.

Well, i'm glad Win98SE supprts DX 9, anyone got a good AGP card for sale?

i was under the impression 98 was capped at DX 8.1

Was that changed?

I always run the latest dx9 updates on my win98 virtual machines. Here is autopatcher for win98se, it has every update and hotfix, plus it installs ie6 sp1 and mplayer9, and then patches those upto date! http://soporific.dsleague.com/main/?page_id=7
