The title says it all! Sort of...

I inherited my previous bosses laptop when he left. It's a Dell XPS P55F. The specs are as follows:

Windows 10 Pro x64
Intel i7 6700HQ
16GB Ram
Intel HD Graphics 530
Nvidia GeForce GTX 960m
1TB SSD

This thing isn't bad but wouldn't have been my first choice. Anyway, I currently have three external widescreen monitors hooked up to it. Nothing fancy about them, just 22 inch ViewSonic screens, 1920x1080. I have noticed at least a few times a day when I open or close a window of any kind it will hang there. Sometimes it is kind of glitchy and I can tell so I will refresh or even just resize the window and it fixes it. However other times it looks like I didn't even click. At that point I try clicking again to find that nothing happens. I then realize it's frozen so I resize the window and poof, the window closes like it was supposed to. (or appears if I was opening a window)

This problem happens anywhere and everywhere, not just in certain programs or at certain times. Does this laptop/video card not like having three external monitors hooked up to it?

Which are you using the Nvidia GTX 960 or the Intel HD Graphics 530? Or both, you have to give us more. Are you monitoring the CPU temps when this happens, if you can do so see if the CPU is over heating. Or the GPU is over heating?
Use real temp to monitor the CPU temps, it also will show GPU temps.

It might be an issue with the Nvidia optimus drivers. I have a lenovo with a quadro and intel via optimus, and it sometimes does very similar thing, though not often enough to be frustrated by.

I will monitor temps. As far as which one I am using, I suppose it was possible I was using the integrated. I just went into the Nvidia Control Panel and set everything to use the Nvidia card instead of auto detecting.

Get all of the correct Windows drivers from Dell for that laptop, start fresh, clean it of dust thoroughly, apply fresh thermal compound
