Don't really need answers at this point as other inquiries were fruitfull w/o further explanation, but by way of explanation.
1. The phone rang, I answered it, user asked me about KB4493470 and if I knew anything about it causing unresponsive system, freezes, etc,
2. Phone rang 2-3 more times and folks mentioned other KBs that arrived with a recent Windows Update. They said they looked around saw references to other KBs associated with same problem ... I wrote them down.
3. I posted here asking if anyone knew of anything related to the questions I was asked. As this is a regular haunt, I was hoping that knowledgeable windows users here might have have some knowledge and hopefully save me a lot of web searching, especially since I have no Win 10 boxes in house, I don't normally don't read Win 10 stories.
That's it ... I don't understand where you are "getting lost". Apparently the folks calling me aren't the only ones with issues.
The KB 4493470 was included with other updates on April 09 "Patch Tuesday" which are apparently affecting two groups
1. After the KB 4493470 and accompanying updates, folks were experiencing freezes, slowdowns and completely unresponsive systems.
2. After the KB 4493470 and accompanying updates, folks with certain AV programs were experiencing problems. The ones who called me noted that when searching on KB 4493470 they found other KB references on Avast, Sophos and Avira forums.
After striking out here, I texted my son (he has windows 10 and routinely visits several on line Win 10 forums)
"You hear anything about KB 4493470 or other recent updates causing problems ?" In response to that inquiry, he found mention on some forums and sent me some links. Apparently it's a "known thing".
