Before I reformat my hard drive again, like I did ten times over Christmas I wanted to post here.

I have Windows XP set up perfectly, having installed all the drivers.

However whenevr I shutdown from Windows XP , the machine just reboots itself.

Is this a Windows XP or a bios , hardware issue?

What happens when you hold down power off button? Does it still turn itself back on? Has it always happened or is it new? It could be a problem with your power switch/connections if you want to check those.

kicked off the reformat

Why is Windows XP So shite compared to any other OS - Honestly it makes me cry - Even Vista is no where near Mac OS X and Microsoft has almost 100 times the revenue that Mac does.

Hehe - At least I didnt pay 260GBP for Windows XP 'Professional' - What a rackett - Its a mini mafia.

Holding down the power down does the same thing - It restarts -

Its new , but I was messing around with my PC all Christmas ...

What do you mean by power switch . connections -

Not much of a hardware man - more software

I replaced the power supply , becuase it too was making a noise

Changed to X Power - 400w.

Do you know how to change this or is this set as standard?

???

You don't want to change the power of the PSU, you want to have a better voltage... you can't easily change that yourself, you need to use a different power supply.

Try resetting the BIOS, there are various settings that influence shutdown behavior. Who knows one is being evil.

As for OSX, if you like it so much then use it. I'd love to see you run back to Windows crying about OSX being mean to you.

I've given it grief before, and it's done the same to me, but Windows XP is a brilliant operating system whatever anyone likes to think, OSX would be seen as being just as evil if it was Apple with the 90% market share. Every OS has its flaws just those found in XP are given more attention and people spend longer finding them.
