I just received an ASUS motherboard with an AMD Phenom II X4 processor, and 2x4 GB DDR3, and I have tried windows 10 pro 64-bit, but sadly I cannot activate it, and it will expire soon. (And I am also very dissatisfied with it, just like with Windows 7 or 8). And I read that there is a version of the XP called x64 which recognizes more than 4 GB of RAM, so I obtained it and after I installed it, I was happy to see that it recognizes all the RAM and the 4 cores of the CPU, have a look here:

But now the issues are these: I'm having a problem with the video driver. I have downloaded Catalyst 14-4-xp32-64-dd-ccc-pack2 - which is said to be intended for 64-bit as well, and I have installed it, but Device Manager shows me something weird, it says the device cannot start. Look:

What does it mean it cannot start? I have a VTX Radeon HD 7750 and it worked great before, on XP 32-bit and on win10 pro 64-bit too! Why does it say it cannot start even after I installed the Catalyst? And now I have downloaded and installed Catalyst 13-9_xp64_dd_ccc_whql - which I believe is the appropriate driver for x64 version of Windows XP, I installed it in both Program Files and in Program Files (x86), but after the install, the display driver's status was "Fail". OK, I restarted the PC and tried to install it manually from Device Manager, and it showed clearly that it copied the files in C:\Windows... something, but after it did that, look what it showed me:

Please help me!

XP is a dead OS and incredibly insecure. More to your point, unfortunately when MS drops support most everyone else follows suite. there are no drivers for your system.

I downloaded that application, but it doesn't solve my problems, it doesn't download drivers, it's something weird about it.

You have to choose download indexes only then click the green text at the top this pc only and you go from there.

OK, I downloaded and installed in normal Program Files - not in (x86) - Catalyst 13-4_xp64_dd_ccc_whql from driverscollection, and it did the exact same thing as before: it said that it failed to install the Display Driver, so I tried to install it manually from Device Manager, and once again, after copying the files to C:\Windows it showed me this:

What can I do? Why doesn't it install the driver correctly? Why does it say the parameter is incorrect?

That's awesome!!

@natr0n : I just tried the driver you told me - the one for the ASUS HD 7770 and it got installed!
Here, have a look:

I have also tried a few games, and they work OK, although they don't have a framerate as big as they did under XP on 32-bit. Still, at least this driver is working! Thank you so very much!

Do you think I should install the one you posted last? I mean the one for the ASUS HD 7750?

They probably are the same driver to be honest.

Yeah, they probably are.

@natr0n : Now, there is just one more thing that I need help with. The drivers for my sound card also don't work, first I tried installing the default ones the Setup showed me this:

Then I searched the net for drivers for this x64 version, and after installing them, it also gave me an error, it said that I should take the card out of the slot, then put it back and try reinstalling. So I did that, and it said the same thing again. And after that, I thought that my motherboard must have a better sound card onboard, since it is a pretty modern one, and my separate sound card is very old, so I took again the card out, went into BIOS and enabled the onboard sound card, but I still cannot find appropriate drivers for it. What should I do?

Access denied means something is in use need to reboot and try again perhaps

I forgot install this before installing the driver

https://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/9662/

UAA bus driver for HD audio
That driver is for the onboard sound card, and now I have installed the separate sound card back in the PC. Which should I use?

Oh damn... look, I installed this driver from here:

http://ccm.net/download/download-24236-cmi8738-driver-for-2000-xp

and during installation it said again the same thing: Installation failed. Please disconnect the C-Media PCI Audio Device, restart your computer, and try again.

Why does it say that? I entered in BIOS and disabled the onboard sound card from there. I mean, I think it was the sound card, it said HD Audio or something like that. Did I do the right thing? I must disable the onboard card in order for the separate one to work, right?

Could you give us the motherboard model #, a picture of it, or even a pic of what CPUID, https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html, is showing under Mainboard?
Sure, here it is:

This is considered to be the best/appropriate driver for my sound card:

PCI-8738-090401-5.12.8.1734(XP-RC-01)_FR

and I have downloaded it from here:

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SO...-CMI8738-Audio-Driver-81734-for-2000-XP.shtml

and it says clearly there that it is compatible with windows XP 64-bit, so why isn't it working? Why did it give me several times that error during installation..?

You need to install the UAA bus driver for HD audio posted above
The card cant function in windows without that driver since its hd audio
Try uninstalling the cmedia driver /reboot then install the UAA driver/ reboot reinstall cmedia and done

also here are the on board audio drivers

I don't know what I ended up installing, but the funny thing is that it doesn't show something missing anymore in Device Manager:

Nevertheless, it still doesn't work:

So what do I need to do? Please tell me again step-by-step, cause I kinda lost the trail of ideas. So first of all, what do I need to install in order to use the separate sound card? What driver and where from?

also see if you can install the driver directly from the [Driver] folder.
