I'm finally getting around to replacing the rig we built together in this thread:

I have since upgraded the GPU (GTX 1070) and storage (Boot NVMe + Steam library NVMe) but everything else is stock. In games, everything is peachy. But on the work side of things, I'm hitting some CPU & memory limits with VMs and such (and even if I weren't, it's time for something new anyway).

Component list:

AMD Option: (3 months)
CPU: Top Ryzen
Mobo: ASUS ROG board (yet to be announced ...)
GPU: Big Vega

Intel Option: (2H 2017)
CPU: 8-core Skylake-X
Mobo: ASUS ROG board
GPU: Vega or Volta depending on review and time frame

Shared:
Monitor (AMD): LG 34" 21:9 QHD Curved FreeSync
Monitor (nVidia): Acer Predator 34" 21:9 QHD Gsync
+Monitors: Keep 2x Dell U2412m
Case: Corsair Carbide Quiet 600Q
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 64GB (4x 16GB)
PSU: Corsair RM 850W
HSF: NZXT Kraken X62 280mm Closed Loop
Boot Disk: 1TB+ NVMe drive
Storage: 4x 2TB SATA HDD in RAID5

As I said last time, I'm 95% sure I'm going AMD. The last 5% is in the case AMD screws something up royally. (Last time, I went Intel).

My requirements are gaming performance similar to 7700k or 6900k and CPU performance similar to 6900k for non-gaming.

Thoughts?

Can still start figuring out case/psu/mem/monitor/etc before then.

Yeah you can. I have and you already have a list going of stuff you want. I think he meant more on the lines of at this point you are just shopping around and there is no need to include other people's opinions just yet. I would wait until Ryzen is out, reviews are in, mobos are reviewed and go "This is what I picked in the end. Are their any issues I don't see with my build?"

That's fine if people think that. But coming into these threads and saying it doesn't actually add to any conversation.

I like theorycrafting. I say I have requirement for where Ryzen needs to be for me to get it. And with those assumptions, what would I put together if Ryzen delivers.

Here's where I've started. What do you think about those components?

Telling me this is all premature is just shitting on things other people like.
