Hey guys, sorry, I'm a new guy here. Hopefully I could still get some help as I have no idea what's going on.

All I know is that I'm looking at buying this new video card here: EVGA 015-P3-1580-AR GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 1536MB...

but I'm not sure if my current setup is good enough:

CPU: Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz 4 x 256KB L2 ...

Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced RC-932-KKN5-GP Blac...

Motherboard: ASUS P6T Deluxe LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Mothe...

Power supply: CORSAIR Professional Series HX850 (CMPSU-850HX) 85...

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

yes of course, i7 is still pretty fast for today. one that need to get considered when you run old hardware is bottle neck that can affect your performance, but for your case its ok

I Still use my similar setup with a 5850 and it plays BF3 decent!

I hardly call a 1366 system "old" yet.
Anyways, the i7 920 still out preforms just about any AMD procs in gaming when overclocked.

I still love my i7 920, performs quite well. I may goto sandy bridge later but only after X79 releases and shows me how it performs

Thanks guys, that really helps out. :)

Do you think now is a good time to buy though? I'm thinking holiday sales will be coming up.

Thanks again

Hell yeah, it's fine! I've got an E8500 @ 4.11GHz & GTX 580 (see specs) and the 580 works beautifully with it - fast and smooth. On top of that, you've also got an ace PSU, which just so happens to be the same one as I have. :D

With a card like that, just make sure that you seat it carefully in it's pci-e slot and the power connectors are in properly. Then make sure ventilation is adequate in the case and away you go.

I'll be upgrading my CPU to SB or SB-E soon (and mobo and RAM of course). I'll decide after I see the SB-E reviews and the prices settle.
