Guess the only way is to try it now... I didn't see anything in the GUI about memory voltages. Does the ASUS OCing utility have that?

Dude it works, you don't have to disable CCC. It does all of the hard stuff for you.

Yes sorry for the confusing post,After burner is just Riva Tuner re skinned And made by Unwinder the guy that made Riva tuner,Afterburner works on all ATI based cards.

IF you want to overclock past the CCC settings use MSI afterburner and change the last line of the config file named EnableUnofficialOverclocking = 0 change it to 1 and now there is no need to mess with the cards bios's just crank it up with the correct cooling of course.

Afterburner ROCKS. I'm messing with core/mem of 930/1300 and FurMark at 1920x1200 average FPS = 80! Top temp = 60c with fan running at 60%.

Haven't tried higher yet. Pushed VGCore to 1200 mv, not becuase I needed to, just because I felt like it

The power draw on my system (total) goes from 310 to 540 watts under that load, wow.

As far as I know all HD 5870 are the same.
Except the Sapphire Vapor-X.

When the fan's not running - it's very quiet

It is reference as far as I know. And it's like a dustbuster at 60% LOUD!!!

The thing is... at stock clocks I doubt you'd need to get it much over 10% and it is quiet. FurMark is pure video card torture - that's why I had it cranked up.

XFX did release a program, but it can't run in 64-bit environments. The only other way is if you have an ASUS card.

Yep, but you need to have an ASUS bios to use the tool.

Maybe clock your card higher because of memory voltage control? Maybe not though? The memory doesn't OC much higher than 1300 and yield results of more than .48%

Yeah that XFX overvolt tool doesnt work, I found that out yesterday, comes up with some bs error, plus my XFX HD5970 is driving me nuts, so many issues so far, its obviously driver issues, getting lag and slow downs in all my games, the CCC 9.12 are suppose to come out 2day, they better cause Im starting to miss my HD5870

The XFX overvolt tool is only for the 5970 and does not run (or at least not stable) in 64-bit :/

As for memory clocks; the (Samsung) memory on the 58xx series is rated at 1250 max, so pushing it beyond that speed is going to be tricky at best..
I found that on my XFX 5850, running the memory at 1249 gave me a *slight* increase in minimum frame rates (Furmark/Unigine), but no gains whatsoever in average/max frame rates.
It also ended up pulling some 68Amps at that speed. A little too much for my liking
Running the memory at 1200 now (& 825 core @ 1.125v), but I'd be interested to see who can run a high memory clock stable: I can run it 900/1249/1.168v stable in all games & benchmarks, but Folding@home shows EUEs, meaning it's obviously not as stable as it appears.

I'm running perfectly fine at 950/1300. I tried 1350 and got artifacts then a lockup in FurMark, but I had also pushed the core up to 960 and didn't touch the core V at 1.2 Need to mess around more.

If I flash to an ASUS bios, I'm assuming I can re-flash back (yes, I'll write out the XFX BIOS first )

I want to watercool the card - mostly for silence. Any reccomendations?
