Would adding silver heat compound help my stock cooler? X1800GTO

Title says it all. I was going to get aftermarket cooling, but I have since seen that it dosen't make a whole lot of difference, espically since I am constantly running 100% with my stock fan. I have an 8,000 RPM hard drive that sounds like a v-tec with 20LBS of boost and a fart pipe, so I really don't care about noise.

I just bought some silver compound for my other computer and I was wondering if it would help my X1800. Thanks.

i think it might bring you down maybe 3 - 4C idle and ??? load

it will help but only by a few degrees (worth it imo since its easy)

get poge or infared (there modding service) to lap it for you, that combo of AC5 and a nice lap will drop the temp a good amount

Alright, thats what I figured. I will give it a shot. One more thing, what do I do about the memory? Are the heat pads reusable? Thanks
