Based on your reviews, the 1060 of course!
No. I'm waiting for the Sapphire Nitro and am 99% certain I'm choosing this one.

In Sweden the 1060 for sure. The 480 is as expensive. I was hoping the AIB cards would be cheaper, but they are nowhere to be seen.

Probably the RX480, mostly because I don't replace my GPU's often and the RX480 looks to be better in DX12/Vulkan and it's a bit cheaper here.

Honestly I was holding out for AIB cards of the polaris flavor, but other than vague leaks and announcements they are taking their sweet time getting onto shelves. Nvidia rushes the 1060 out and all the partner cards are more or less released alongside it, so silly.

I'd probably buy the one that ends up being cheaper in local pricing. The GTX 1060 is faster right now, but the RX 480 has more VRAM and looks like it has a high chance of being slightly faster with DX12 and Vulkan.

On the other hand, the 8 GB RX 480 and the GTX 1060 might both end up being too expensive (around €300 to €400 here right now), in which case the cheaper 4 GB RX 480 would be the pick.

The RX 480's higher power consumption is a double-edged sword for me. The winters here are cold so a space heater is of use then, but the summers are relatively warm so then it's a bad thing. So overall in my case it's not a downside compared to the GTX 1060.

You are purchasing based on power consumption?

he likely meant performance per watt, myself and my brother do that as well.

after dealing with 7970/280x crossfire and the heat/temps that created, high performance <150W TDP cards are glorious.

I'm sitting this one out because my GTX 980 is good enough for 1440p. In a year's time hopefully the DX12/Vulkan puddle of mud, and hence the best upgrade path, will be a bit clearer.

I need to buy now, my 7870 XT is dying and will no longer game. But custom Rx 480’s are nowhere and the custom 1060’s are in short supply.

http://www.umart.com.au/umart1/pro/Products_list.phtml?id=10&bid=2&id2=555&name=GeForce GTX 1060

Gainward GeForce GTX 1060 6GB $429 au

Asus GeForce GTX 1060 ROG Strix $549 au

http://www.umart.com.au/umart1/pro/Products_list.phtml?id=10&bid=2&id2=554&name=Radeon RX 480

Gigabyte Radeon RX 480 8GB $449 au

No idea what the custom 480’s will cost.

No idea what’s best to do.

So no gamming until new stock arrive, though the Gainward GeForce GTX looks reasonable.

Where is the "Let's flip a coin" option?

Honestly they are so similar... I would probably lean toward the GTX1060 just because I like the efficiency of it. Although not to save on power or anything because that's negligible.

If the RX480 becomes available sometime soon in a "mini-ITX" card format (two slot, half-length), then I will get that. I would prefer it to the GTX1060, to be honest. That said, if such a custom card never arrives, then it is the half-length EVGA GTX1060 for me. I don't play anything graphically intensive, so my 750Ti is still working quite fine for me, but I would like a graphics boost sometime soon.

$50 or more higher price for 30W less power consumtion when gaming isn't financially sensible if power price isn't up to the sky where you live.

GTX 1060, because AMD cards not doing great in Arma 3 and their drivers are still utter mess. That's from my own experience. I tried really hard to like it but it simply did not work for me. Not trying to start a war green vs red; if AMD cards and their drivers suits your needs - cool, I'm honestly happy for you. Performance wise both cards are very similar, RX480 slightly more power hungry but cheaper than GTX 1060.

I would lean to the 480, just for DX12/Vulkan performance being closer to 1070 than 1060, plus cheaper.
