It will be much better with a dark mode/theme when i use TPU on the pc at my workplace. We can't install addon on firefox.

Yes and no. I know that my eyes are sensitive to light. I wear sunglasses even when the weather is overcast and cloudy and it's raining. I also keep the brightness level of my phone down almost all the way. Some people are light sensitive. The screen brightness that my wife uses makes my eyes water and she thinks I'm being a wimp because I need her to turn down the brightness level on her phone before I can look at whatever she's trying to show me.

I have dark mode extension on chrome for sites. I wouldn't mind a dark mode available on TPU. I know I'd use it if I wasn't already using dark mode extension.

I was also using dark reader, but found that white text on dark background was actually straining my eyes more. I guess it varies greatly from person to person. That's why I picked "indifferent". Dark-reader is there, it works, is customizable and can be easily setup by the user for any other site.

I also tried dark mode on both my monitor and phone but I felt the same, it was harder for me to read/look at the screen in dark mode than the default white for some reason but I don't mind having options.

It prove that a dark theme is ok as long as it's not black but a shade of grey. Like 90% of dark theme website or what dark reader do. And the link state that a dark font with a white background is bad too, it's interesting and prove that a lot of website should/could change their theme to be less harder on the eye, with theit white or dark theme.

Only time I've had issues with white or off white backgrounds is when the room was dark or poorly lighted
Otherwise I don't have issues.

Think the worst is the transitions using dark theme and it not being applied everywhere then you get into eye strain adapting to lighter backgrounds.
But then again go outside and forget your sunglasses

i want a dark mode on every website. but most of the addons or settings to force it makes some text unreadable or icons invisible.
i'd welcome a dark mode on TPU.

I considered the toggle perspective. It reinforced my bias of mandatory light mode for all even more XD

Does this include people who don't want a dark mode?

Considering the amount of people pro dark mode, perhaps the problem lies with one's monitor brightness being too high. Or perhaps it's because everything else was turned to dark mode that the brightness is shocking, but only in contrast to already having dark mode on everything else; an easy solution could be embracing light mode on everything else so TPU doesn't have to be shocking.

I think you are all forgetting to ask @W1zzard a question before you ask these questions. I am not a coder, so I don't know the answer to this question, but it may simply be A LOT of work/coding to make something like this happen? I don't know. Keep in mind, he is basically a one man show for this website with a team of moderators to help... at least that is how I percieve the site, I may be wrong on that.

In which case, crack your whip and make the worker bees work! lol jk, I actually don't care one way or another about a dark mode, but I think @qubit is correct, if you have a dark mode button on the forum front page or something where its easily seeable by the masses and not buried in settings, it might increase traffic to the site. it's not a bad idea.


edit: I just enabled dark mode in Chrome, under the experiments section. why don't you all just do this? looks good enough to me.
