I replaced my Ultra Infinity 600Watt PSU with a Corsair 750Watt and i doubled my performance. It sounds weird but i think my other PSU was just under volting everything else and i wasnt running at peak performance. What a difference getting a higher wattage/quality power supply. Corsair FTW! :toast: Corsair ---> :nutkick: <---- Ultra Infinity.

yeah Corsair is good. i thought Ultra was respected in some quarters too, though? they sell a lot of those on tiger direct i think

anyway i just got Everest (the system monitor program) and you mention "under volting." my volts according to Everest are:

are these good? what they are supposed to be for my set up? under load the two lower ones fluctuate a tiny bit. really not at all, but they move a little

I dont know, its an AMD processor, ive never owned an AMD so i would know what to say, what i meant is everything wasnt running with full power, so it was acting like undervolting everything to run everything on the Ultra. Ultras are nice but not as high quality as the Corsair, the Ultra has been a great PSU for the time i had it but i could run 2 2900xt's. They require a minimum 750watt ok power supply. My system kept dropping the second card due to power loss to it i guess. I wanted to get the 1000watt Corsair but Compusa didnt have it in store.

yeah sounds like you definitely needed more juice for your set up. 750w should be fine, although i understand why some these days might want 1000w. just in case they ever run 10 HD's on a quadruple sli / crossfire set up lol

anyway i also found this at another place in Everest:

so thats another thing. i think everything is within spec :)
