wrong clock readings or what? IX38

I Oced my q6700 today and the bios shows that is at 3.4GHZ, so does windows, but CPU-Z, core temp show 2042.4 Ghz at x6 mult.???????? i know i have at x10.

whats going on?

OS: Vista 64bit
cpu: q6700 G0
ram: x4 2gb pc6400
MB: ABIt IC38 quad gt

Do you have an power saving features on? I'm not sure they go all to downgrading by 4 Multipliers...but that is odd.

C1E, EIST, Speedstep...those are popular Intel Power Saving features usually found and enabled/disabled in BIOS.

EDIT: If you have a CPU stress test like Prime or Orthos...keep a program running like CPU-Z and watch to see if there's a change in CPU speed/Multi when the CPU is loaded...this will verify a power saving feature is in-fact turned on.
