Guys, WTF is wrong with hardware these days? Or am I a super lucky to crapy stuff.
Lately what ever I buy I complain about and there is a reason for that.

Yesterday I bought brand new Asus MG279Q - So far I was using Dell P2415Q but since its not top model I understood that it might not have good blacks and colors since its main goal is 4K res.

MG279Q promissed to provide me super quality and gaming experience but it didnt. there are 2 issues.
Backlight is very uneven and in these spots whites are blue or yellow. Playing with controls doesnt help much.

144 Hz is great, everythign is smooth as hell but all other things about this monitor are horrible. I dont want to mention speakers that are worse then in my 10 year old laptop since I use headphones.

Do you guys this I should RMA this monitor? I cant return it so if not RMA Ill proly set it on fire...

That is some ridiculous backlight bleeding if I ever saw one.

I've had el cheapo TN's that do MUCH better, you know, budget 1080p LG's.

Return this right away, don't even take no for an answer.

But I know what you mean, I am also generally unimpressed with the level of quality control with big companies, I've had so many duds I've lost count.

In the end though, it takes some extra trouble, but RMA procedures are generally handled well. In my country we have a law that gives you 7-14 days to test the product and return it without giving a reason. I tend to use that a lot.

Says it all, really. And this from a so-called premium monitor too. :shadedshu: If I remember correctly, the reviews for this could have been better, too.

Definitely RMA or eBay it. Get rid of it one way or the other.

If you want a quality monitor, then I recommend either of these BenQ models, which are both excellent. In particular, you'll find useful features unique to them, such as the strobing backlight which works with any graphics card at any refresh rate and the little control panel that plugs into it, with the three user defined display profiles making things very handy. They both do 144Hz.

XL2720Z for 1080p gaming. I have this one and can vouch for it

XL2730Z for 1440p gaming. Additionally, this one supports AMD Freesync

Check out the reviews where they do very well. TFT Central in particular is the place to go.

this ^ quality has been going down for quite some time now :ohwell:

I have the sane monitor. I don't have that kinda horrible bleeding, it does BUT as far as I can tell the bleed in my case is actually the White power LED that's doing it. It is really only noticeable from the right angle(not normal viewing position) so I live with it despite it annoying me when I notice it. Other than that I think it's great. I can't speak about the speakers because I never turned them on and certainly wasn't on my list of features I was after.

Besides if you're using the 1080 in your specs you bought the wrong one anyway. You want the PG279Q. That's the G-sync model.

I have seen this model too... they are prone to bleeding. Most of them are... if you RMA it there are no guarantee that the next panel will be better.

I have to agree... this aspect for panels is overlooked greatly. The boarders of the screen often are milk white, If I play witcher during night the corners are washed out for these.

That's the reason I am sticking with VA technology... I never accept poor black levels, that's a no go for me.

Dammit Mam! Don't tell me that or I'm actually gonna start looking for more bleed...

You and me both. Still rocking that Eizo FG2421, so happy with it.

Whats wrong with Software these days is more like it!

ASUS well ......its ASUS better of sticking with your DELL, the old DELLS just keep on going.

If it would be red, at least it would be so black metal-esque and acceptable, mam!
Well it would be easier to spot. You have me downloading Black Screens now....

Yup. Got a 1600x1200 IPS monitor that I gave to my mum years ago and it's still going strong today, showing a beautiful picture.

This is a second hand monitor that I was given too, so it must be a good decade old and has had lots of use.

ok, sugestion please
at least 1440p and at lease 27"
what to buy to get good blacks and contrast, when will OLEDs come to monitors?

When i was switching to 4K i sold my U2712 1 day before i got new 4K monitor.
If i have waited tilll i got 4K i would never sell my dell. this LED is uber crapy tehcnology...

Yeah also noticed hardware wears out much faster these days.

I have seen the Freesync ROG 27" in a store and its backlight was bad with a yellowy glow, and the guy in the store said he had sent back a few of the g-sync already as theirs was even worse, and a few had dead pixels.

Its a shame as on paper they are the one to go for, but any discussion thread you see on them the quality and backlight are an issue.

I just wish dell had 144/165hz on their newer uxx15/16 range, they are really nice quality and have a nice usb3 hub and qc2 charger, but are only 60hz

Say what you want about Dell, but I've never seen a bad monitor from them.

Well
me neither in the past, and i am using them for 17 years now

My last purchase was P2415Q and blacks was poor but it was cheapest ips 4K so i blamend myself fot some time. Than I decided I want more and i bought this superb ASUS...

Now i can honestly say that this Dell wipes floor with this more expensive ASUS crap. You can see it on the photo next to Asus. So sad...

I've read a lot of people complaining about backlight bleed on my Acer XB270HU, which I think has the same panel (or very similar) to your Asus. Mine has only very minimal bleed so I got lucky perhaps, I'm very happy with it.
If I was you I would RMA, if you get a good panel it is a good monitor.

Can confirm what others have said, IME Dell monitors are very reliable. But I don't think they make a similar spec IPS monitor ATM.

Are you sure that's not the Asus MG278Q which has a TN panel? IPS panels tend to have pretty good contrast... at least mine do. Granted, they're Dells. :p

You caught my interest as I too love good blacks - VA has the best, maybe even manufacturer specific? My current has OKish blacks, but in dark scenes I find them lacking ans even disturbing.

Well... I am using PB328Q [I like large panels]. It is 75Hz and has the same panel as Benq BL3200 which I had previously and swapped, both had one flaw... poor panel assembly. Dust gathers behind the matrix and light panel, also dead pixels may occur on some samples.

It all depends on your luck, there is nothing perfect. There are smaller VA panels too. I am not going down 32inches personally. No f*cked up DPI and immerse gaming. And black is black. IPS is okay on smaller sizes till 24 inches, then the uniformity is OKish, if the panel is larger the more bleeding it has, gosh the 21:9 35inch sized panels are a complete joke too, playing some DOTA style game, the health bar is invisible :D.

Man even my cheap AOC's don't bleed that badly.
