It's my buddy's card and it has started artifacting. It is a Sapphire oem purchased from newegg. The card was bought about a year and a half ago. Is there anything I can do for him other then buying a new card?

I know it isn't heat related, and I upping voltage doesn't help.

I would say it's getting hot. Use ATi Tool and clock it down to see if the problem goes away.

Replace the past with AS5/

Try 2.171v on the VDD, and 2.168 on the VDDQ.
And yes you need ramsinks on the volt regs. I use to also run a fan from a stock AMD 3500+ cooler on the regs also.

Is it artifacting only in ATI Tool, or does it do it all the time? Mine will do it in ATI Tool, but never even has a hiccup with anything else after almost 2yrs of use. ATI Tool has just been a glitchy program for this card for me. At this point it probably isn't any more (because of updates, etc), but it doesn't matter to me.

If it was just atitool it wouldn't be a problem now would it?3

I posted in the sapphire forums and they have deleted my thread, twice. I'm starting to get pissed.

I think thats because there are several threads in regards to that problem already;

http://www.sapphiretech.com/en/forums/archive/index.php/t-1577.html

In that thread there are several links also.

Did you read this;

Try 2.171v on the VDD, and 2.168 on the VDDQ.
And yes you need ramsinks on the volt regs. I use to also run a fan from a stock AMD 3500+ cooler on the regs also.
And, how cool does the mobo chipset run, the X1800 series tend to work it extra hard.
Also there is the chance that the Video Ram has gone bad, Sapphire does not use the best VRam.

Some people may view that as a problem. I was only checking. My apologies.
