lol has anyone atempted simply opening up a 512mb x1900xt bios in rabit 2.1 and simply changing the mb value to 256? (editing clocks first though) if someone trys this i'd recomend trying the bios with stock xt timings and only modifying the clocks and mb
cause there are prolly timings not listed that wouldn't match perfectly with the new timings or something (leaving the stock timings seemed to work best for me when moding x800 bioses back n t3h day :))

by the way, stop asking someone else to get what you want, get it yourself.

and I already said that I have someone on a norwegican forum that will get his 256XT during next week, and i'll get the bios asap as he can send it to me.
if you can't wait that long, get the bios yourself. (it would'nt hurt to have a couple of different brand xt256 bioses either)

well, (starting to feel like a broken record) I would, had i not just spent 7-800 bucks putting together a system with 2x1900GT and exploring crossfire possibilitys, so I'm currently occupied with that project) and x1900GT's are in low supply (everybody wanted one after they fell in price) so if I flashed a bad bios, I would have to wait weeks instead of days replacing it, thats why.

(haven't seen anybody do anything else than just request the bios, now that I got it for you, you don't have the guts to try it?)

check out my X1900xt 256mb bios thread HERE for either the bios I uploaded or gooseone's

Yea but seems like you have money and I don't. I would definitely try it but you if it messes up than I would be :(. But if yours would mess up it wouldn't be a big deal, you'd still have one card left to play with.

well, (you scaredy cats) just updated the bios, card works fine, and crossfire is disabled (meaning it is not recognized as a X1900GT) but I changed it back to get back Crossfire support.

did not do any tests other then to see that win started. (have a clean install, so no ati tool present @ the moment)

so please try it, it will not F.U. your card.

So you flashed and didn;t even check to see if the extra 4 pieps were enabled? Something's rotten in the state of Norway I say ;)

Too busy exploring crossfire possibilities? That's a crock if I ever heard one. You got hold of a bios file - big deal. Fair enough, put it up and if people want to try it they can. Quit trying to get others to do the hard work for you and stop whining.

Bios Comparison between x1900gt and x1900xt 256 - obvious differences on the Product Id lines but I circled em anyway - I dont know any hex, nor do I know if what i did was the least bit helpful but oh well.

PS for those that don't know - its that 70 line on the left that has the pipeline config (from my understanding) the 18 and 19 are teh differences for pipeline config - dont know what the 49 and 4B difference does

allright you pansies :p you all talk big... but little action.. and yes i have been busy trying out a bunch (20-30 or so) of games a friend loaned me over the weekend to test what games use crossfire. but he doesnt live in my town, so he had to take the discs with him, and I don't want to pirate. and with one card flashed, i couldn't enable crossfire (since it's not another x1900gt)

Just flashed both my x1900gt to xt bios, 12 pipelines happy? have not run any benchs or games, atitool cube showed no difference. (crossfire not available)
mabye something can be edited in the bios (doubt it), but I leave that to the experts.
(well, Chuck Norris could just scare the X1900GT to unlock the 4 extra pipes, but I'm not gonna ask him ;) )

I have not tried gooseone's bios, both are sapphire, but mabye it's 1st /2nd rev. ? I do not know

well, seems this is the end of the road, but 65 pages of half-useless info on the x1900gt is not bad :p

(ps. if you try flashing, post results to see if there is an increase/decrease in performance)

what needs to be done is comparing the clocks and pipes from the x1900xt to the x1900gt. then you can simply edit 16pipes and higher clocks without sacrificing crossfire.
