Yeah $400 I know:banghead:, but I would buy it if I had it. Another month of waiting for better prices.:shadedshu

Better price, only a littlr higher than Newegg for X38 boards, even cheaper than some; also with DDR2 support for the budget minded.

Can anyone confirm or even hint as to when the major vendors will get them in stock? I am certain to go with Asus P5E3 Deluxe/ or Premium, but I gotta wait till taxes are done. Gigabyte X48 is a backup pick if we get less back then planned.

Also anyone actually working with any of the X48 boards any tips/info/experiences would be appreciated.:toast:

Who can say. I've got my rev. 1.0 GA-X38-DQ6 in my hands right now and if I pull back the label, underneath it has screenprinted: GA-X48-DQ6! I checked the NB and the IHS says that it's a SLALU. I'm not sure if Intel is going to label their chips as X48 or if the designation is made solely on binning...

Gigabyte has done a few revisions on their boards from GA X38 DQ6 to GA EX38 DQ6, with a few changes to the PCB. Some people have had luck with using X48 bios on X38 boards (DFI for one) but I am not sure its a good idea with Gigabyte's boards. Asus has done some power management changes form their P5E3 Deluxe versus the newer X48 Premium version and the Premium has some bios options not available on the X38 Deluxe.

I know but I am going with a DDR3 board if I can afford it. While DDR3 is pricey now it will eventually come down in price and to me I want to extend the life of my system as much as possible. I am going to pair it with the cheapest 2x1gb DDR3 kit I can get. I already have a Q6600 GO I picked up from MicroCenter for $199, its a slow build but I only need a mobo and ram to atleast get it going. I have helped put a few Core 2 duo systems for family and the performance over my best system is mucho grande. I do alot of video editing and encoding not to mention newer games push my cpu to hard, an opty 170 at 2.9ghZ.

I have 3 939 builds and some extra parts floating around, some of which are brand new warranty replacements, and a 500gb 7200.11 Seagate oem unused, along with a Hiper 580w. The stuff I want is a new case, raptor 150gb, fans and other odds and ends.

I hope to put in a new GPU by Xmas (whatever is best by ATI at that time)and add Vista 64bit around then too. I still have an unused XP pro 32bit licence. I have Vista 32bit dual booting on 2 rigs with XP. Vista was nice at first but buggy as hell after prolonged use (even patched and defraggedA)so I hardly ever use it, except for games.

Did you go to a microcenter Brick & Mortar or online store?

I'm trying to decide whether to order ANYTHING from them.

Thanks.

Yeah about 3 weeks ago. The sale was in store only. It was extended and is still going. Limit one per household, and you can make sure you get a GO, I did. I don't think they have any B3s as they said they can't keep em in stock. They might make you try and buy other stuff (up sale) but you are not obligated; just point out the add has no restrictions.

Its gone down in price a bit. Was about 300. I almost bought it, but got new RAM instead.

You have an X38 DQ6 one of the best X38 boards IMHO. I was going with that till I decided I wanted an all in one wifi solution and DDR3. The Gigabyte boards are still my next pic if things go different as planned. They have excellent power managment nearly no vdroop reported, good layout but (no offense) a gay color scheme IMO:rolleyes:.
