X800 Gt

Hey, I heard about this X800 GT on ati.com. Well they don't say anything about how it compares to the other X800's and they don't even give it's specification. Well I was wondering, how does it compare to all the other X800's?

And by the way, do you know about the R520 core series? I can't really find much on it, but if you guys have links please send them to this. Thank you

All I know about the GT is that its suppose to be the 6600GT competitor. It has 8 pipe and runs at 470/490. For the R520 the last I heard was the end of August. It just past PCI-SIG.

WOAH, well that sucks. It's also pretty stupid, I would think the X700 series would fight the 6600, since it's got 8 pipes and does compare. They should have just released an X700GT, that lowers the X800's names.

Dang, I've been looking at Sapphire and it looks like my overclocked 9800 should compare to that pretty well. So now I can say I can beat X800's, stupid mistake ATI made. I remember when they used to say "more than twice the power of the 9800 series", now they can say "about the same power as our 3 year old cards".

Yeah, I was saying I can compare to X800's now, you know, like saying you can compare to a top model. I've got a 9800 pro way past XT speeds if you read my signature. I hope the GT is hardware moddable, but it's doubtful. It's the newest card for the X800 series, so it's probably not built off any better core. But thanks for telling me

Since the X800GT has GDDR3 and the R480 core it would smack a 9800XT around.

x800gt is comparable to a 9800xt

actualy id have to say given the specs it should be a bit better than the 9800xt

it has 2 more vertex shaders a updated core a little over 50 mhz more core and over 2x100mhz more on the mem

I BIOS flashed my Sapphire x800Pro to x800XT and now it sais my VGA card is a x800GT

Funny that. Likily... as it's a Pro i am still running 12pipelines AND this card overclockes like there is no tomorrow.

585mhz Core 585Mhz mem. Without any game corruption. Thats faster then x850XTPE

I love how clocks on these cards go so high, it makes you so proud when you outdo stock speeds, especially that high. But I don't know, the X800 series should never have gone 8 pipelines, the only thing it does is make 9800, 6600, and X700 owners proud that their cards can still do everything with only 8 pipelines (so they're not futile). Again, it should have gone to the X700 series.

8 pipes is a little low...it's almost a highly clocked x700

I cannot say much about the x800GT as i dont have one... apparently i read that more pipes can be enabled... so thus attracting enthusiast... imgine inableing 12 or even 16 pipes on it... thats an x800Pro for a much lower price.

Worth looking into. Performance wise... it's similar to what a 6600GT is to a x700
This x800GT is to 6600GT...

6600GT is faster then x700 (in most things but not all and only by a little)
x800GT is faster in most things then 6600GT but not by much.

Really x800GT should have been the x700GT (Pro) whatever... to compete with the 6600. No matter which way you see it... Naming convention is a little crap in this case.

I am really sad i cant hack my x800Pro to go 16pipes... really sad about that
