you can do it if you have a pci card or by blind flashing.

Hmm... you should get a cheap PCI graphics card if you want to flash it.

Dude! Never EVER! flash a card without making perfectly clear for yourself what you are going to do. Get a guide on how to do it and make notes for yourself. Now you are f'ed.

Put your PCI card in. Get into your bios: "set init disp PCI" or something alike.
That will force the system to use a PCI card first and AGP second, result: a working screen.
Now boot up and flash your backup bios back (which you are supposed to have made)

I dont know which exact bios setting you need. Its a setting which tells the bios which graphics card to use first. PCI or AGP (not PCIE). Select PCI and connect your monitor to that card(it shouldnt be connected to the dead card).

Found this for the setting:
"Init Display First

Options : AGP, PCI

If you are using more than one graphics card, this function enables you to select whether to use the AGP graphics card or the PCI graphics card as the primary graphics card. This is useful for users who install more than one graphics card but only use a single monitor. This will enable them to select whether to boot the system using the AGP graphics card or the PCI graphics card.

If you are only using one graphics card, then the BIOS will detect it as such and boot it up as normal, irrespective of what you set the option as. However, there may be a slight reduction in initialization time if you set this function to its proper setting. That means if you only use an AGP graphics card, then setting Init Display First to AGP may reduce boot-up time a little."

The setting is probably located at Integrated Peripherals.

You must be more clear. Are you using your onboard card now? Then set up the bios to boot from the on board one first (with the x800 inside ofcourse). Its a simple bios setting.

Im very sorry to hear that. A blind reflash is like it says: Blind so you have to know what to type. Make a boot floppy with the "modded flashrom" program on it. You probably can use the floppy you used to flash the first time.

Boot from the floppy

flashrom.exe "enter"

flashrom.exe -f -p 0 backup.bin "enter"

Youll here a jingle when everything worked out.

Good luck!

Flashrom is a utility that u can only use while starting up windows.

To make a bootable CD, use a program like Nero and burn a CD that will start up with windows (there is an option when you go to create a data CD but it may be under advanced options). Once you go throught the wizard, make sure you add the flashrom.exe as well as the original BIOS you want to flash back to. You can do all of this with your onboard card, even if it means taking the X800 out

Now, turn off your comp and put the X800 back in, then turn back on with the CD in the drive (make sure that your CD drive is set to start up before any other disk).

As your comp starts up, you should get directed to a page that looks like code. Wait a little while until you can start typing. Once you can, type the name of your CD drive (for example, D: if your CD drive is D) and hit enter.

Now type: flashrom.exe -f -p 0 backup.bin and hit enter (where backup.bin is the name of your backed up bios that you burned onto the CD) It should do some more stuff, then you should get the jingle. Once you get the jingle, take out the CD, turn off your comp and start it as you normally would to see if the card is back to normal.

Hope this helps :)

Cheers :toast:

I wouldnt recommend you flashing your card again. But you can post your fuses data here: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=5367

I told you the same as pinchy assuming that you had a bootdisk available. Its just common knowledge you should have before flashing your vid-bios.
