hi all

i was thinking about getting this card
Connect3D Radeon X850 Pro - graphics adapter - Radeon X850 Pro - 256 MB AGP

but i think my pcu is only 250 watts of power
so what pcu would i need to run this card ? 400w? or higher

my pc specs are

CPU Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (Hyperthreading)
Motherboard MSI MS-6743 ver 1.0
Memory 512 MB DDR RAM - PC3200 x2
Hard Drive 80GB Maxtor 6Y80L0
CD Drive 16 x DVD-ROM
52x24x52 CD-RW
Video Card radeon 9550 256 mb AGP
Sound Card CMI 9739A audio

i have seen a 400x pcu for like £11 and i not sure if thats like realy crap one hehe
http://www.savastore.com/productinf...avastore&product_id=10244340&pid=207&rstrat=0

but the 500 watts are like £50

also i see a lot of ppl unlocking there cards from 12 to 16 pipes -- is it realy worth it ? how much fps more do you get.

thanks for any help

On your PSU, you'll see something that says "+12V” underneath of it, it should give you a rating of something like 15A. If it is 18A or above, you should be ok, but I doubt it will be on a 200w PSU. You don't need a really expensive PSU, just find out with a rating of 18A on the +12V rail. If it’s the same price, go for 20A or more, but 18A should work. You can find those for a lot less than £50.

By the way, read the customer reviews...they are rather useful. If you keep seeing "failed after a month," don't go near it.

True, Watts say nothing. A 350watt A-Brand PSU will perform better then a 550watt hachipachi cheapass PSU.
