XFX 4870x2 fan

recently noticed a weird (bug?) with the 4870x2 fan from trying to adjust it using RBE to keep the card temps down.

I get the Idle temps to 53/43 Deg on the GPU's and the 3D temps to no more than 88/66 Deg.

When leaving a 3D application the fan speed IMMEDIATLEY goes to the lowest speed ( 33% which I set in RBE) even thought the card is over 70Deg

The (bug?) to which I refer is that the fan speed is dependent on the 2nd GPU temperature which for me is ALWAYS the lowest of the 2 GPU's therefore very slowly but surely cools the 1st GPU down after a while when leaving 3D mode??? It takes like for ages for the 1st GPU to get back to Idle temps.

Is this a bug with the fan or not? If not I guess I have to tweak it more to keep the 1st GPU temp down!

i set the fan on AUTO to speed up when in 3D mode (when the temps go up) but my GPU2 temp is still relatively low in 3D mode when GPU1 is high. The fan spins up a little bit (i would say not above 40%) in 3D but then immediately goes to 33% in 2D because my GPU2 temp is low straight away when GPU1 temp remains high until it works it way down to Idle temps at 33% fan speed (33% because it almost silent at thet speed)

ok tried dynamic mode but didn't do a thing!!!!

I have taken a pic straight after leaving my bench tool (Lost Planet @ 1920x1080 DX10.1) and as you can see, the card temp (GPU1) is still 80Deg and the fan goes straight to 33% ??????? as GPU2 temp is 66Deg (or maybe a little bit lower)???????? but surely it should be higher fan speed as I set my Low limit of 33% at 45Deg????

even though GPU2 is at 40Deg, the fan still spins at 33%

am i setting the fan speed wrong in RBE or is the fan control slightly borked???? << ignore what i wrote, i know why its still at 33% @ 40Deg!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just don't know why it goes straight to 33% out of 3D at high temps??!!??!!??!!??!!??!!

hi,

the default value in my PowerColor 4870x2 is : T min 70° , Duty 27 , T max 114° , target 95 , update 4s .

in my edit bios ,in fan setting ,I changed only Tmax value: first was to 114° , but i set to 85° ...


nothing has changed : the fun cycle has not increased ....
