XFX GeForce 8600 GT Extreme with Quiet Zalman Fansink. 600MHz Clock Speed, HDCP, 256Mb DDR3 @ 1.5Ghz, Dual DVI DL/TV Out, Zalman Fansink, Max Resolution: 2560x1600. The heavily refined fan technology from Zalman results in a large volume of airflow getting to your GPU, allowing a more stable core, and more reliable game play. The fact that Zalman technology is known for its quiet, smooth design means that every time one of these cards are installed, we get one step closer to a silent PC.

What does everyone think?
Alright for a medium-to-low budget pci-e choice?

Hey another Aussie in the house..

Hows it goin MG.

Yeah that 8600gt will be a nice upgrade over the 9800pro you have now, although I would be more inclined to go for a 2600xt if you really want dx10 support. If dx10 isn't that important then I would go for a X1950pro.... it would be better than both the above cards in gaming but doesn't have DX10. You can pick up the X1950's for around the $150 mark here now.

lol, k.

Yeah, sorta wanted more stats on that general era of hardware, and where it falls.

But, just about anything released after the x100 by NVidia and ATi (or Daamit as I like to call them now) would beat it.

:toast:

Yeah, nice to see Aussie's are out there on teh internets.

Well, course it'll be better, I wouldn't have asked about it if it weren't.
But yeah, I seriously doubt it'd be worth going for DX10, since... since I didn't care about the latest and greatest software. lol.

But the X1950... might have to hava look into this...

Here is an X1950pro at a decent price... Its just under $200 but it comes with an aftermarket cooler installed on it. Its powercolor brand as well whick I have known to be quite a decent brand of card...
