is it possible to flash a xfx hd 5850 non reference with a unlocked bios ?

Which card is it exactly? I think there are a couple. The egg cooler one doe snot support soft voltmod AFAIK.

Sapphire Trixx may be the next stop; works great for me.

Agreed. I did the same & it works a treat.
Just make sure you have plenty of cooling, take great care in the voltage mods and ensure you have a stable PSU.
