xfx rx480 8gb flashed to saphire rx580

Windows 10 and the latest ones for the 580 on AMD's site.

I have the same XFX, 1288mhz 8GB... maybe it's my system though as my card has always made an odd buzzing noise under load. I sent it back twice, and all 3 of the cards did the same thing so I decided to stick with it and accept it's my system, even though it's fine with other cards I have. I first thought it was the fans, but it's some power thing under load that causes the noise.

I booted up Overwatch, it just crashes in the menu screen once I see the temp values hit 85c, every time it gets to 85c and then just crashes my PC.

Doesn't seem worth it though as my card runs at 85c with the 480 bios under load and is throttling.

that sucks that its not working out. as this develops im sure that others will git into the extreme nitty gritty and see if its only certain cards that will accept the flash. its almost like the r9 290-290x flash. only time and testing will tell if this is a similar situation. thanks for giving it a shot.

Have a reference RX 480. Will check VRM and flash if there is an equal RX 580.

Was able to flash successfully.. my idle VDDC .75 is that in good range? secondly the RX 480 and RX 580 has identical drivers right like if i flip the switch back to the 480 it should work fine?

and when you unlocked your voltage was it withouth powerplay support?

My one, probably a slightly different variant to yours, I dunno I got it when it was £180 on sale last year.

Not too bothered as it's my scrub work PC.

if it seems a bit unstable try leaving all the clocks at stock and giving it a +24mv increase to the core. also what is the ASIC quality of your card. Mine is 74.1.

Binning probably, maybe why it was so cheap.

That said I'm at 1350mhz 1.18volts fine on 480 stock BIOS, with these 580 BIOS it would hit 85c and would crash at 1100mhz with 0.8 - 1.2 that I tried.. so maybe the bios hates this card.

just left unofficial overclocking mode on disable. post your ASIC quality if you get a chance. also if its giving you some hiccups try giving it 24 mv in after burner.

Can you walk me thru the process?
Also , do i have to worry about the bios check later with amd drivers?

Yes i ran ati flash win in administrator mode it's the sub system id thing, i bios edited the subsystem id and other subsystem to get to flash and got it to flash but when i did a benchmark i seen alot of artifacting in 3dmark firestrike

Make sure you run "BIOS FLASH" as admin But please revisit the original post for warnings on this stuff

RX-480P8LFB6 is UK (maybe EU)

I'm gonna guess since your model sends me to .com sites and my model sends me to .co.uk sites.

for flashing the card i attached the version of atiflash that i used and included it as a rar. its on the first page. you will need to extract the folder. afterwards all you need to do is right click "BIOS FLASH" and run it as administrator. it should update your card with the new bios. i do not know what version of windows you are running but for 8.1 i had to let windows install drivers from the device manager. i assume 7 and 10 will be similar.

i would do one of 3 things: if unstable give it up to a 50mv core increase in afterburner. if that does not work than downclock. i should also note that you should run a custom fan profile because the card run hotter with this bios. if it still does not works than revert back to your stock bios. thanks for trying this out!

Doesn't work for my card, all I get on a restart after flashing the first bios is a blank screen during POST. Windows continues to boot up but nothing on the monitor.

Ok, i dont touch anything in settings ( fan was at 26% at 86° wtf, need new fan curve i think), then i fix it at 86% and maintain constant 66°...
