Hey guys I figured I would finally post here and see if i can get a little help. I've been troubleshooting an issue since July where my computer will go to a black screen and there's a loud sound coming from the speakers. After this the computer has to be manually restarted. I have replaced the motherboard, the power supply, the hard drive and the processor. None of this fixes the issue. Sometimes it seems to be less of a problem and a game will run for a bit before crashing. Also I have to point out that older less taxing games generally don't crash the system. I have checked each RAM stick one by one for 6 - 8 hours through memtest and i realize this isn't a 100% fool proof test but im fairly confident the RAM isn't the culprit here. I have changed some of the global settings in wattman as some others have suggested across the internet which seemed to work like before, temporarily. I got desperate and also tried MSI afterburner to change some settings also to the same effect. So after I installed the brand new motherboard I decided to look into the crashes some more. I found alot of people talking about the PSU. I didn't consider this because the RX560 requires a 450w PSU and i have a brand new 600w. Now I'm starting to wonder if the PSU is just not getting enough power to the whole system to keep it stable. Hoping someone can shed some light on this situation? Here's my system specs. I also have to say i only have 2 matching RAM sticks which were part of a kit (I know this isn't ideal but I have removed all the RAm except for the kit and the crashes continue). Also I get a kernel power 41 event in the crash logs afterwards not sure if that is relevant. Appreciate any help here I'm just shy of selling everything and taking a trip around the world to forget about computers for a while. I have also completely uninstalled wattman as suggested on another forum to no avail. Also i roleld the driver back to a super old one and got a green screen crash that time with the sound loop.

Also took a log of right before the crash on HWinfo and here is the log file to that if anyone would mind to have a look. Im not super experienced with reading these logs so not sure what im looking for.

CPU--- AMD FX-8350 Black Edition
Motherboard--- Gigabyte 970A DS3P
GPU--- XFX RX560 4gb (Unfortunately the glorified RX460 version)
PSU--- EVGA 600W 80 plus W1 series (Been told recently this is horrible?)

Ambient temps? Case and how many fans?
Did you buy the card new? Have you tried repasting it, new thermal paste and pads?
You psu is fine. How old is that motherboard? How much ram do you have installed? Win 10? 7?
What is your location? Do you have good stable power and ground in your house?

the CPU idles around 41 C - 45 C and under load maxes out at 56 C.

The GPU idles around 48 - 49 C and under load maxes at 60 C.

Case currently has side panel off and 1 - 120 mm fan and 1 - 80mm fan.

Card was bought brand new from best buy and i have not tried to repaste it i was kind of holding of fon that as last resort since the temps didnt seem to be too bad.

Motherboard also brand new infact its about a week old now since i installed it.

Windows 10 is installed and i have 10 gbs of ram.

Located in Indiana currently and yes I live in an apartment so would assume the power is stable and grounded here.

Thank you for the assistance.

check with xfx to see if you still have a warranty left or @XFXSupport may be help from here as well. He helped me out rma with my r9 390 when it was black screening.
The crashing only happens when you try to game on it? Or random while browsing as well? Have you tried a different gpu? ram seems sufficient but looks all mismatched. 8gb plus 2gb? DDR3 what brand/s?

Yea the ram is mismatched but i have a 4 gb kit that i used for testing purposes and the crashes still happened. Yea only happens when gaming. I ran the heaven benchmark no problems...did a cpu stress test no problems...tested the memory no problems. I've pretty much built a new computer here. I did however do a scan of my HD earlier and i will attach a screenshot of that.....The ram is 2 x 2gb kingston kit...one 4 gb stick and one 2 gb stick

So like I mentioned earlier I had issues with my r9 390 but it was total random gaming, browsing.... contact xfx thru their web site and open a ticket and pm @XFXSupport with your ticket # once you do. He is a great guy and very helpful.
I know it will be loud but can you set you gpu fans to max in wattman and try to game like that? If it still crashes then go the RMA route thru XFX, something in the gpu is dying.

Edit.... You have the latest bios on your mobo and you tried clearing/resetting the cmos? Gigabyte is particular about ram and does not always like mix match brands and capacities 2+4 8+2 etc.. giel, kingston.....
Are you overclocking the cpu? try running at stock speeds too

Ok was afraid of that or I would have returned it soon after buying it but I was certain it was driver/software related since so many people seem to be having this issue with the RX cards so I hesitated. Thank you really appreciate your help I will contact XFX and see how it goes. I have tried turning the fans up and it is loud but it still crashes.

Thank you. Actually surprised. This is the third forum I've tried to get help from and just seems like no one knows. Its about to put me in the mad house.

I guess i voided the warranty when i reapplied thermal paste to the GPU. Thats just bad luck. So i will replace the GPU and see if that solves the issue. I'll report back with results. Thanks fellas really appreciate your time and help.

@XFXSupport can you chime in on this? Did @Maddhatter void warranty by reapplying new TIM to his gpu?
Thanks

hello,
what game are you crashing on please ?
and have you changed the setting in that game to something lower and tested please?
they cant prove that the thermal paste messed up your gpu and it was busted before you did that, so don't feel bad and feel free to get them to replace it for you.

Its crashing on quite a few different games. From more taxing games like Fallout 4 to low end games like mount and blade warband. Settings ranging from maximum to lowest with lower resolutions still crashes this way.

Ok might have a little update here. So I revisited MSI Afterburner after completely uninstalling the radeon software and increased the power limit to 50%...temp limit to 90 C..and then lowered the core clock to 940 and memory clock to 1330 also raised the fan speed to 100. Like this i was able to play for almost an hour no crashes or performance loss that i noticed. So that being said could this be an indication that the card is trying to draw more power from the PSU than it can supply? Or what is the deal here? Im not entirely happy with the idea of having to downclock a GPU right out of the box to make it stable so I see this as a temporary fix to a possibly much bigger issue. Also have to make note during the session where it ran after the downclock my temps maxed at 51C on the GPU.
