XFX warranty

A friend of mine has this XFX 7800GTX graphics card that has recently died. He reckons the "tiny little chip with 4 pins on each side" has fried or something.

Anyway, before we waste time/money sending it to me to see if its repairable, we were wondering how the XFX warranty works. He only got this card like 2 months ago on ebay (used), so we dont know when it was purchased (but dont XFX have lifetime warranties?) Reckon we can RMA it?

PS, he only has the card on him. It didnt come with box/accessories.

the card is under the double lifetime warranty however the original buyer from ebay had to register his details to XFX via there website 30 days after he purchased it in order to be covered by the warranty since your friend did not get a warranty it doesn't look good :(

you could try contacting the original owner but don't get your hopes up, if he didn't mention the warranty when selling it I doubt he registered.

I have to disagree here. XFX will allow you to register the card to a previosly dated purchase the day you apply for an RMA...I did it personally. Took about 2 weeks full circle to register with XFX ..apply my serial# to the warranty....wait for them to test it and send me new ones. RMA'd twice with XFX both were very good experiences!

I doubt the original seller would have registered it, because he may not have been the original purchaser himself. I will try and contact him (trying doesnt hurt :p) but if thats the case, I cant see it happening.

SneekyPeet; what would I need for all that. Remembering, he doesnt have anything but the card and an ebay receipt (if he can print it off).

if so that is a great find, serial is on a sticker should be located on the bottom of the card thank sneeky :)
