XMP profile, All core enhacement, High temps 77 C (i7-6700k)

Hi,

• i7-6700k
• Hyper 212x
• 16GB 3200mhz
• Asus Z170i Pro Gaming

With the BIOS settings at default, I have 64 C max at load, if I enable the option on the photo, I get 77 C max at load.



What can I do?, that temp is not normal for a Hyper 212x and it is well mounted.

Do I need to enable that option called All Core enhacement?.

I just want good performance and my memory ram running at 3200mhz.

A lot of people with the option enabled are having better temps than me.

So why my temps are so high?.

All cores running max turbo multi is something I always enable...just habit I guess. Keeps things simple and constant across the board. This can and will raise temps a little.

Beyond that other important factors are the case and its airflow quality and quantity along with ambient room temps the system resides in.

I wonder if the feature is overvolting your CPU when enabled and CPUv left on auto. You might look into undervolting your CPU to cut on temps. Also you'll want to run various stress tests to verify stability.

There are a variety of factors that can greatly affect system temps. Make sure you've taken care of all.

On the 212, it never hurts to reseat..some folks also do push-pull with 212s. Verify the latest UEFI is installed for your main board.

Yea 77C is abit high but still within range, what are you using to load your processor?

Perhaps you could post a screenshot with HWiNFO showing CPU frequency, VCore, and core/package temperatures along with your 'load' application running?

And, if possible, you could post your ambient temperature as well?

all core enhancement is overclocking. you could probably do it manually at lower volts and lower the temps.

Room Temp: 28 C
Room Humidity: 80 %

Case fans:
Rear - 120mm
Front - 2x 140mm

Its warm and Humid in your room. Temps reflect that

Play a game and see where you are. Just keep an eye on it

I don't know how to do OC, I never did that.

if you dont know what you're doing, turn the option off and leave it off until you understand how to overclock it yourself.

As CPU-Z is not much of a stress test, heat-wise, I would probably disable it.

With your hardware, you should learn to overclock, there are plenty of guides, and you can get help/advice on most PC hardware forums. Otherwise, you might as well have bought a pre-built.

But a lot of people out there are having better temps than me with this option enabled and with the same Hyper 212.
Maybe something is bad with my cpu cooler?.

hundreds of things affect those temperatures, the thermal paste, your CPU fan, the speed of your fan, your BIOS settings, your case cooling, ambient temperatures and humidity, how many goats you sacrificed to GabeN this morning, etc.

Not all i7-6700K CPUs are the same in regards to temperature, depending on where it was cut from the wafer, soldered to the package, and TIM application under the heatspreader. You also have to factor in how the TIM was applied between the heatsink base, and heatspreader, and the heatsinks mounting pressure when screwed down to CPUs top. No two systems are going to be identical.

Possibly your CPU itself.

When I built my current rig, at 4600MHz @ 1.3VCore, I was getting 80°C+ temperatures running IBT at Max. I have a custom water cooling system.

I de-lidded my 6700K, cleaned out the dried up OEM TIM and replaced it with a liquid metal TIM.

Now I am at 4830MHz @ 1.39VCore, when I run IBT Max, I only see 71°C.

That is my experience, it may or may not apply to your situation.

I'm guessing that's with Core Enhancement flipped on which forces all Cores to run at the highest Turboboost frequency? The OP photo in his 1st post shows 1.28 with Core Enhancement off.

but a lot of people use this cooler to OC the cpu.

Remember that I'm not overclocking my CPU, all core enhacement did.

If you have Core Enhancement turned on it still counts as overclocking.

I agree, so overclocking that CPU creates added strain on that cooler.
In that situation, which is very similar to my temps, an AIO would be the way to go, a 240 radiator at least.
