Anyone tried Xwrt-Vortex on a Netgear R7000?
Home | Xwrt-Vortex (xvtx.ru)

I know it has a lot of development steps

  • Wrt - ASUS - Merlin - Vortex

but my R7000 wasn't so stable on Netgear firmware, and Merlin has a so much nicer interface.

I already found that Gmail did not work till I turned on IPv6

What the actual...
So someone managed to shoehorn the Asus UI on top of a Netgear firmware?
That's really something.

Why do you want to change? Most third party firmware modifications are either horribly missing in supported features, hardware acceleration or not even functional WiFi. The closet you get to something working is asuswrt-merlin or xwrt-vortex, but both are outdated. There is also more than one concern about security for those, I have not dug too deep in to it but people seem to avoid xwrt-vortex. If any i would choose asuswrt-merlin(XWRT) instead of vortex. Or just stick to stock.

You are right... but let me explain

I used to lose connection every now and again, and I blamed the firmware

Seems it was actually me using double NAT and once I turned the router into AP mode, the issue was gone.

Merlin is only "outdated" now because Asus didn't release the open source libraries they have to release, but that has been resolved and he's working on new updates.

Good to know as I also have an ASUS RT-AC68R

It's not that I am rich; I keep picking up units from Goodwill.
