You know you're hardcore when you buy 8gb of RAM and an 8800GTS (back when they were 450$) for an HTPC

    And...

..when you swap out your quadcore Phenom that was running perfectly at 3.3 GHz for an athlon xp 3000+ just because you could not live without overclocking.

*you "hot-swap" parts because you're too lazy, or impartient, to deal with a system re-boot

*you no longer have any fear of "hot-swapping" parts

*you've been zapped by your rig at some point or another

*you've spent months of digging (or dug out an old unit you actually had laying around) for an old high-speed CD-ROM so you could actually test the myth of obliterating CD-ROMs in high-speed CD-ROM drives . . . and cackled with glee when it came apart like a Michael Jackson criminal trial.

*you jumped-out your rigs power switch, and have your rig's wall outlet on a timer to turn your computer on 10 minutes before you typically come home from work.

*you hate quiet rigs because you can't tell if they're actually on - and you'd hook up one of these: http://www.discountmarinesupplies.com/Blowers-JABSCO_BILGE_BLOWERS.html if you could just figure out the best possible way to mount it

When your case alone cost you £500...and it's lying in pieces on your floor because you cant be arsed putting it together because you swap out your parts too often.

actually - you kinda get used to it after a while . . . then that gentle whir from the air coolers actually becomes quite soothing and hypnotic (and no, I'm not trying to make a smart-assed remark).

Think of it like . . . if you've ever driven on the highway late at night, with the radio off - all you can hear is the whirring of the tires on the road . . . after a while, you don't really hear it anymore, and it's somewhat comforting . . .

+1. I can't sleep as good if no noise from the fans is present. And I wake up when the comp shuts itself down, thus creating coplete silence.
But the noise thing is in general. I can't sleep in silence, I need noise. I could sleep better in front of the speakers at a heavy metal concert than in complete silence o_O

When you tweak and swap parts so often, you completely give up on putting your computer in a case. :D

lol. I qualify for this. (Well except they don't call me D, they call me Wile E. lol)

So what does killing 5 of the same card get you? lol.

You know you're hardcore when: You play Halo 3 in a wall tent on a frozen river when it's -45 degrees outside with a small wood stove as your only source of heat.
